I feel like I'm at a crossroads with my "radar screen only" #MetalGear like game. There's been a slow scope creep toward higher fidelity game art (Left picture). But what if I returned to more abstraction? (Right picture)

Game devs, this is what scope creep looks like. Should have stuck with making a 2D abstract game with zero animations and environment art. Instead I'm four years in and got a long road ahead, smdh😔
"Hearing" has been implemented in Untitled Stealth Game! You can see how I'm visualizing the sound, so the player can tell when they can be sensed by enemies. #MadeWithShapes
@var_cat_bones Haha yeah, V was such a letdown from a themed boss fights perspective (case in point that as a fan I was disappointed)
I guess V also had the Man on Fire, but that almost doesn't count
@var_cat_bones Good point about PW, although personally the mecha fights are my least favorite.
I will say, my favorite bosses in the series are the stealth-type fights (Vulcan Raven, The End, The Fury, Laughing Octopus, Crying Wolf)... maybe I'll try implementing stealth-focused bosses...
@var_cat_bones I agree that MG wouldn't be MG without boss fights! But as a "like" game, surely we can pick and choose what elements we're keeping/tweaking/eliminating without wholly alienating the fans? IDK just thinking out loud.
But am now going to at least prototype bosses for my game

Implemented a lo-fi way to "hear" enemy chatter during alert phases in my Metal Gear like game. This sliding text box was actually inspired by Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere on the OG PlayStation! #screenshotsaturday#indiegame#gamedev#metalgearsolid
