The 14th Amendment protects everyone; any rule, any law, any regulation, any policy, that gives one set of people rights other people donโt have is inherently unjust, unconstitutional, and fundamentally at odds at what America should aspire to be.
Example: I expressed my support for Sec. Buttigieg. And I got a MAGA person who 1) Started off her statement with an insult, and 2) claimed he was incompetent. Look, I'm pretty generous, but I do not believe there are a lot of people who care who the Sec. of Transportation is.
@marisbellamy1@SassiestMinx Who cares? If they let him try to do the stuff he has in mind, it's not gonna happen. If they tell him what they can actually do, he's gonna throw a temper tantrum and nothing at all will get done.
@LucasSa56947288 I love how they get the issues right but ignore the obvious conclusion. Or do they think that the vast majority of voters aren't aware that they've been blaming Pres. Biden for the last two years? I bet that they do, inconcievable though that is to me.
@marisbellamy1@SassiestMinx It might be almost as good to see him trapped in irrelevance. He can't even be a kingmaker; his minions are not inspiring, and we've seen what happens to Trump-endorsed candidates. He's an 80 year old man who doesn't believe in exercise. How long is he gonna live?
@KandymanStan@AZ_Brittney been planning for years to deal with this. Judges were surprised that the government would just ignore their orders, but a person ignoring court orders isn't new. It's planned for. If your opponent always uses the same tactic, then if you have a plan for it, it will fail.
@KandymanStan@AZ_Brittney And they're only unpredictable in what, exactly, they're going to do. But they're immensely predictable in how they're going to do it. They're going to use a rush; a sudden sharp shock that is poorly thought out and has no plan B. It's a fatal flaw. There are people who have
but because they go from just chill to ultra-violent faster than you can get ready. But here's the problem. If that rush fails, if you know they're going to do that, you plan for it. And suddenly, the sudden attack is just so many eggs against a wall.
While I'm at it...what is the overriding, most common characteristic of the Trump Administration and MAGA in general? It's that they're not competent, careful, or smart. Because those characteristics aren't valued in their circles. They act without thinking. And that can
work sometimes. Cats can scare off things much more dangerous than they are because many cats don't give a fuck. They go straight after whatever it is, convinced that even if they go down, they'll go down attacking. Mobsters are often scary not because they're tough and violent
Go back to your command, and try to think what we are going to do ourselves, instead of what Lee is going to do." I think we're currently in an analogous situation.
During the Civil War, Union generals tasked with dealing with Robert E. Lee followed a pattern. Lee would do something surprising, the Union would take casualties, and then retreat to a safe place, nervous about what this daring commander would do (what he was doing
do. And Grant said "โOh, I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is going to do. Some of you always seem to think he is suddenly going to turn a double somersault, and land in our rear and on both of our flanks at the same time.
@rothschildmd that there were whole squads of lawyers and poll observers alert for shenanigans. I was one of them, and we were trained to address it. And, as scary and awful as Jan 6 was, what happened at the end of the day? They got arrested. They got convicted.
@rothschildmd So what? They're a lot of talk in a bag. Or do people think that the people whose job it is to protect the capitol and Congress reacted to January 6th by just going "Wow, that was scary, but it'll never happen again, right?" I heard that about election security, too, and I knew
@KandymanStan@AZ_Brittney And panic hiring in the next 90 days is a great way to hire people who will not be useful and might even be counter productive. Look at the average ICE agent. I don't think we have much left to talk about. You seem bound and determined to talk past me.
@KandymanStan@AZ_Brittney Jesus. Calm the fuck down. I'm pretty sure that the people who's job it is to deal with these things won't make the same mistake twice. They've likely been thinking about various scenarios for six years. I think they're likely to be ready, and they sure as shit are smarter.
@KandymanStan@AZ_Brittney Let's cross that bridge when we come to it, shall we? We have to address the fact that the current Administration is a government filled with incompetent sycophants who are stealing with both hands as well as all the other issues. Let's do the next right thing.
