In this weekend's Weekend Daily Monitor, Friday, 30th October 2026, I share some reflections on our ongoing journey to build a smarter, stronger and more responsive National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (@lgrb_uganda), and our vision for a safer, more competitive and responsible gaming industry in Uganda.

As Uganda's gaming industry continues to grow, our responsibility as regulators is to ensure that this growth is matched by effective oversight, responsible gaming practices, consumer protection and an enabling environment for sustainable investment.

In the feature, I share insights into the work we are undertaking to modernise our regulatory systems through technology, strengthen compliance and enforcement, deepen stakeholder partnerships and build an institution that is responsive to the evolving needs of the industry and the public.

I also reflect on something I strongly believe in: regulation should not be about enforcement alone. It should create predictability, build trust, protect consumers and enable responsible businesses to thrive.

Our ambition goes beyond today's achievements. We want to build an institution with strong systems, capable people and a culture of accountability—one that will continue to deliver long after any individual leader has left office.

I am grateful to our Board, management, staff, government partners and industry stakeholders for their continued contribution to this transformation.
