Visiting student researcher at the International Vaccine Aids initiative @imperialcollege London as a 2024 Merkin fellow. I was never born with a silver spoon. All my life, despite the insurmountable challenges I experienced, I have always wanted to be that small little โchangeโ
and good example for many folks from underrepresented communities in science. A big thank you to everyone who have supported me and the great community @ljiresearch
Yโall, itโs his first time riding the bus and mom is a wreck, but his bus mates told his mom (in Spanish) anyone mess with him and theyโre getting handled. Little man got some homies for life right there. ๐ฅน
so excited and honored to be part of the 2023 Gilliam cohort! Thanks to my amazing mentor Jazz Dickinson, the Dickinson lab and friends who helped me in this science journey! ๐ฑexcited to meet the other #GilliamFellows and build a supportive scientific community!
Putting a pause on family vacation to announce that Iโve been promoted to Associate Professor with #tenure! Starting out in academia, I never dared to think I would become a professor. It was an uphill battle with being first gen, black woman in STEM, and a single parent trainee.
I recall my first @Immunopaedia workshop in Ethiopia starting an a young independent and enthusiastic research exploring the the tools of bioinformatics to study antigenic peptides as vaccine candidates. I feel so fulfilled to be in a lab chasing my dreams to be a virologist.
For the past one month I have been so shy to share an exciting news. I was nominated as the ambassador of month by @Immunopaedia a global immunology forum that disseminate immunology education. https://t.co/NuspzD44RK
