Caribbean people are such natural poets. Reading a book set in Jamaica and the barber name his shop 'Addis Ababa Shop'
I'm so tickled by how clever that is 🤣
Since I stopped dating, my personal life has become dramatically less chaotic. If I don’t meet someone in the ordinary course of living my life, I assume they are simply not for me. Formal dates (especially when there is no prior context of meeting) feel like auditions, two people performing carefully edited versions of themselves within an allotted slot of time. I still struggle to see the value in an activity so artificial, so time and money consuming, and so thoroughly built around performance rather than reality.
In hindsight, I’m not even sure why I ever participated in this strange modern mating ritual.
