1/ Excited to share that @exgenesis and I are part of the upcoming Big if True Science (BiTS) cohort! BiTS is an accelerator at @RenPhilanthropy for scientists & technologists to design ambitious R&D programs. Our “Big if True” hypothesis is that >
cosmik is Capitalism 2. it's time to think about production outside the system of production. most of the production of researchers are creative excess uncaptured by institutions,
@DefenderOfBasic Yes!
@jaybaxter and I recently discussed this + the importance of building at the protocol level so that it can be truly interoperable.
Jay also shared https://t.co/qsNX86zGjn which seems like a great start and something we'd like @CosmikNetwork to support.
Microdosing knowledge with micropublications🍄 Micropublications are a powerful concept but with poor branding. They are still pretty niche, and even for those who know about them, they don’t have a great rep - they’re seen as preliminary results that aren’t as polished or >
Useful area for experimentation.
In particular, I am interested in how platforms like these can give scientists ways of listing “ideas in their desk drawer” (experiments worth running that don’t have time to pursue, but think someone should).
1/ 📢 @CosmikNetwork has been awarded $1M in grant funding by @open_phil and @AsteraInstitute! These generous grants will support our development of Semble - a social "micro-knowledge" network for researchers. Think https://t.co/9zWvn8Jfwo + Goodreads for research!
Imagine trying to land a plane in the fog without a heads-up display. Pilots used to do it but “flying blind” meant frequent disasters. Today, we're browsing the web in that same fog. >

AI can help us "liberate" data trapped non-interoperable formats (eg screenshots). Beyond that though, we also need better information navigation interfaces. Finally, protocols for reliable social annotations should be a core feature of browsing - we’re working on all of these!
Human data makes AI better, but does AI make humans better? Unfortunately this is far from obvious (eg cognitive atrophy due to outsourcing)
Hybrid intelligence is a useful concept: co-evolving AI-augmented collective intelligence where humans and AI improve each other over time
“The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.” What is the role of human researchers in the age of AI? Great synthesis here, with many thought-provoking ideas that deserve broader discussion. Thoughts🧵 >
New @CosmikNetwork blog post! Herbert Simon told us that information consumes attention. For 50 years, we've accepted that as a one-way street: attention as a scarce resource. This is the linear attention economy: we feel it as acute info overload, too many browser tabs open 🧵
