@FinalClifford Even alone I recall any enemy larger than a standard human (most beasts, The large enemies in the mine dungeon near the beginning of the game) are just straight up “too big to launch” and have to be slapped to death for an unreasonable amount of time, bravery or no
@FinalClifford It’s not even the bosses (although I think they’re WAY too long and easy from what I played before the game perms bricked on me) there’s always one or two enemies in each group that are cemented to the ground and have 20x the health of the others in the group and it ruins it all
@FinalClifford And I assume in ultimaniac the 15 unlaunchable losers with 2 slow attacks drag everything out even further as you XYXYXY X+Y them to death for 7 minutes. Tweaking the numbers doesn’t really fix the problem, the combat needed to have substance without launchers or always allow em
@swoocemachine@K3ys3r__s0z3@letsgetcanceled It’s a bad perk not because it’s ineffective but because it’s overpowered in an extremely boring way and stomps out space that could be used for more interesting and specialized perks and player expression bc there’s no reason to not always take it
@delovoy__@Armonte It is also hand drawn. Doing 120 frames of a 12fps animation just makes 10 identical frames per second. It doesn’t magically “smooth” it out like it does for tweened 2d or 3d models unless you interpolate, which universally makes things look muddy and awful
@delovoy__@Armonte And Hollow knight SPECIFICALLY animates character sprites at a LOWER fps than the backgrounds as it helps increase clarity of what is and is not an intractable element.
@delovoy__@Armonte It’s 2d hand drawn animation. Why would they ever hand animate at 120. Furthermore fighting games use frames as units of time for frame data. Even further there are plenty of artistic reasons to cap a frame rate. Lots of movies are shot below 30fps and those are fine
