A simples está na Escritura: Não tentarás o Senhor teu Deus. Quando você percebe a possibilidade de perigo e mesmo assim a ignora sem motivo apenas para provocar a proteção divina, você cai na tentação que o diabo apresentou a Cristo, de se jogar do templo para que os anjos o segurassem. E Cristo responde: "Não tentarás o teu Deus".

A complexa está no final do comentário aos analíticos posteriores de Aristóteles feito por São Tomás de Aquino: quem abdica da razão perde o direito à boa providência. Se Deus te dá uma faculdade, é para que você a exerça. Se sua razão consegue conceber a possibilidade real de perigo, então está nas suas mãos te proteger quanto a isso. Se você abdica da razão, abdica do dom de Deus, e portanto de sua proteção. Mas que proteção, já que me protejo?

A proteção quanto às coisas que você não pode lidar. Por isso Paulo diz que Deus não permite tentações que não podemos vencer, ou seja, permitindo as que podemos vencer, pois estamos aqui para agir; mas quanto àquelas coisas que não podemos controlar ou até mesmo perceber, é aí que a providência de Deus sempre nos custodia conforme seus desígnios, e isto se usarmos nossa razão para nos protegermos daquilo que conseguimos conceber.

It doesn't matter. The Jews reject Jesus on both grounds. Tribally, the Jews considered Jesus to be the child of a Roman soldier and that's why they called him a half-breed Samaritan in Luke 10. Values-wise they considered him corrupted by the possibly Essenic Baptizer John, who rejected the authority of the elders and temple - effectively a rejection of Judaism itself in their eyes.

Jesus was rejected by this world. But the cornerstone they rejected has become the foundation of the church. The means by which the gentiles received full sonship of Abraham, counted as full citizens of Isreal - to the stumbling wrath of the Jews and the contentious confusion of the Greeks.

I understand looking at the 20th century and being worried of a tyrants, I really do.

But the 21st century is shaping up to be a tyranny without tyrants all the same.

We are so terrified of the specter of totalitarianism, of Big Brother, of a great dictator with all the police powers that modernity can provide, that we are willingly handing power over to a mob of millions of petty little tyrants, who all publicly signal over and over again about how much they hate us and wish us dead.

Our hesitation to draw the sword of sovereignty and wield power, no matter how many electoral victories "the Right" scores, has created a vacuum that Liberals, Progressives, neo-Marxists, and Third Worldists have filled.

The lesson from the last century shouldn't be that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It should be that someone ALWAYS rules. And if you are so afraid of the shadow of history to be the one who steps up and rules, that choice doesn't abolish the reality of rulership.

It's not sovereignty that will disappear.

It's you.
