In commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we had the privilege to partner with Bindura Municipality and the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development yesterday for a powerful community outreach, which included a march from Bindura Town House to Tendai Hall. In collaboration with the Civil Registry Department, we used this platform to raise awareness on Access to Documentation (ATD), engaging over 400 young women who joined the event.

Our ATD Community Champions and representatives from the Civil Registry amplified the message that access to documentation is a women’s rights issue, while young women facilitated referrals for those needing assistance at the Civil Registry offices. Several women managed to obtain their national IDs and secure birth certificates for their newborns during the outreach.

Access to documentation is a fundamental human right in Zimbabwe’s Constitution, which guarantees citizenship under Section 35. Without documentation, many women face barriers to participating in health governance processes and decision-making spaces, while their children struggle to access essential health services when they need them most.
