Utah's Great Salt Lake has been in decline and is now one-third the size it was in the 1980s. A new scientific report out this month warns that, without dramatic and immediate cuts in water consumption, the lake could vanish in just five years. https://t.co/riv6guPIki
Bit not by a ROUS but a rattlesnake. Grateful to the staff of Malibu Urgent Care, LA County Fire Dept. and the staff and medical professionals at @UCLAHealth for their great care. Am recovering well thanks to all these wonderful folks. 🙏
During his historic tenure in the Senate, Orrin Hatch was a leader of deep faith who looked out for the people who often didn’t have a voice in our laws.
Jill and I are saddened to learn of his passing and we send our deepest sympathies to Elaine and the entire Hatch family.
I always appreciated Orrin Hatch’s willingness to find common ground. When I was first lady, he worked with me and Ted Kennedy to get SCHIP done; as a fellow Senate colleague, he reached across the aisle to serve Utah and the country. Thinking of his family.
Sen. Orrin Hatch was a principled leader, dedicated public servant and friend. Utah and the nation benefited greatly from his leadership and commitment. My prayers are with Elaine and the Hatch family as they grieve this loss.
Congress and the Country join Utah in mourning the passing of former Senator Orrin Hatch.
The longest-serving Republican in the Senate's history, he devoted more than four decades to public service — often working across the aisle on behalf of America’s families.
At a low moment during my WH years, when a barbed piece about me had been written, I got an unexpected call from Sen. Orrin Hatch, whom I knew, but not well. "Don't let the bastards get you down," he said.
It was a kindness, unusual in Washington, I'll never forget.
May he RIP.
I was talking to @LeaderMcConnell in the well of Senate about Utah’s legalization of medical marijuana when @SenOrrinHatch walked up and dryly remarked, “First tea, then coffee…and now this.”
The Hatch Foundation sadly announces the passing of Senator Orrin G. Hatch—the former President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate and the longest-serving Senator in Utah history (1977-2019).
