I want to expand on Mr Martz's comment about turn signals:
If you pull into a left or right hand turn lane and then put your signal on, what exactly have you accomplished? The point is to signal your intentions, not fulfill a requirement.
Also, I don't care if there are no other cars in sight. Use your signals anyway. This way it eventually becomes muscle memory and not something you need to think about.
Just because you have been driving for longer doesn’t mean that you’re a good driver. Period.
The worst drivers I encounter on the road are typically old people, white women, and foreigners.
Your license oughta be confiscated for LIFE if you:
• Cannot use cruise control / keep your vehicle at a constant speed.
• Are a left lane camper (if people are constantly passing you on the right, then you’re driving too slow regardless of the speed limit and that difference in speed is more dangerous than speeding itself).
• Don’t accelerate to the speed of traffic as you take the on-ramp onto a highway.
• Don’t use turn signals, especially in the presence of other drivers or pedestrians.
• Come to a near-complete stop making a right-hand turn where there is no traffic light, stop sign, or narrow side street / lot / driveway.
@zeekfilmaker Yes! Did this the beginning of last season. We still have four or five that fight over the two consistently. Call it the hummingbird wars.
Artists have always tried to interject their message into their medium, which is fine when tastefully done, in an appropriate story, as I think you point out.
The issue I have is taking existing IPs, and then co-opting them to push your agenda. There never seems to be any real love or understanding of the source material. They are simply used as a vehicle for the message they are trying to send. Which is usually done in a heavy-handed approach. This often results in an inferior product that does poorly because it was not what the fans wanted or expected.
The fans are then castigated by everyone from the studios on down to the actors for their lack of understanding.
Some of these IPs have been successful for decades, because the people that made the art before them did understand the message and the meaning they were infused with previously. Whereas now, they are simply used because they have an existing fan base that can be exploited for a message most of us have little interest in.
@MW4Liberty There have already been arrests because of their misuse. Those are from departments that actually audit. How many departments do you think do this?
@ChrisMartzWX 💯
Driving instructor here. You are spot on. I especially like the first point, keeping a constant speed. This is overlooked by most people.
@RealTheoWold I just posted about this in a separate thread. I work in tech. Every job I post gets dozens, if not hundreds of competent applicants for every posting. This is across many tech disciplines. There is zero need for any further H1B visas with all the layoffs and dearth of jobs.
If they are this concerned, then why did they approve 350k+ H1Bs last year? I work in tech and for every job I post, we have dozens, if not hundreds of viable candidates. Yet they approve more H1Bs for tech companies every year.
VP VANCE: "I'm proud to announce the Federal Department of Labor has started dozens of subpoenas and investigations into foreign fraudsters who are trying to take advantage of the H-1B visa program... American jobs ought to go to American workers and not foreign fraudsters."
