@R04ch I get that funding can be a problem, but I wish the tourist info was more honest. It always seems to show the attraction in its best light. It's super annoying to trek up a mountain just to find ~
@sunstoneflower You'll always wonder about "the path untrodden"!
I see others who settle in places where they have no one and struggle. Having my wife's network around has been invaluable from day one.
@chav_khun@sunstoneflower Yep, they have compressed at least a year and a half growing time into a few seconds. 🤣
But must admit they take very easily. We have eaten pineapple from tops that were just thrown away, starting life in our compost heap.
@chav_khun I finally got fed up with being stung, so got a guy in to remove the hive in our roof. Sadly, even with him taking handfuls of bees, he couldn't find the queen. Seems a Thai queen bee is the same size as the workers and difficult to locate.
@Lord_Talbot64 I believe that is what they did in Zimbabwe! Lessons to be learnt of the devastating effect that can have but then these sorts are blind to that reality.
@ThosMajor A local gave me this advice. Keep the grass short around the house (they hate being exposed) and befriend street dogs. They will pay for the bit of food you give them by scaring the snakes off. Not had a snake in the house now from over 10 years (famous last words😉)
@PersonalThai@XFreeze Do not see the need. Thailand has an amazing fibre network that was even installed to every village under the Net Pracharat Project.
Plus Thailand has had satellite Internet for remote areas for years now. I had one before the village got fibre.
@BKKSomchai Good advice because when you get older and the tremors set in you are buggered.
Just hoping next time I change my passport they with accept a change of signature, preferably to just a "K".
Sadly, I wished I was joking!
@ThosMajor Cheers. Heading down your way in a couple of weeks and will most probably try this place out. Certainly like restaurants that offer a bit more than just food.
@ThaiTrainGuide Amazing work Richard.
25 years of living here never caught a train from the local station preferring to use the district capital (more choice).
Your station guide shows me the timings will work to do a third class return photo run down to Surat. Thanks 🙏
@bartelsv By buying in advance online you can actually get tickets a bit cheaper than the 400 bhat Thai price. When I went with the wife (Thai) she had to pay on the door. Could not find an online option for her.
@seftonhanley While I have already determined that a tax return filing is not required, I appreciate the opportunity for a secondary review. Thank you.
After having 100s of online discussions where non Thais are confused (or plain wrong) on Thai tax and filing liabilities yesterday I decided to knock up a free info tool.
https://t.co/3ghxOfXSK2
The reason this question is confused online is because everyone's position is unique, you answer one persons question and someone else will come back with 'thats wrong because (eg) my rental income is already taxed overseas' or 'my pension is a military pension' etc etc. You cant apply one answer to everyone in every position and people frequently dont give the vital info when asking.
I think I have now covered the variables but I am sure someone will prove me wrong and have some unique edge cases. I will try to adapt the logic gates as these get reported. Its also worth saying I have kept the guidance simple enough that if you are claiming a DTA exemption, or a Thai deduction, it is on the user to understand what they are claiming. I will probably add a few more warning or disclaimers.
Use it, share it, try to break it, prove me incorrect. I want to know what I have missed.
Obviously if you want to ignore Thai tax liability, thats totally fine, I am not here to argue that enforcement is happening. These are the rules, following them or not is up to each individual.
@bangkokaussie Certainly not seeing that sort of increase at our local builders merchant. Sounds to me he's trying to play the field for an increase in what he quoted.
@CleansedTweets As a 16 year old lad, thought I had missed an opportunity when they cancelled the Channel Tunnel in the 70's. Glad I got to be involved in it's completion in the 90's.
Not unusual for mayor infrastructure to be delayed/changed.
