I think all citizen should be entitled to a childhood education and should be given baseline funding to support it, but they can’t be guaranteed an outcome because their families are free to weaken their side of the bargain and many do via self-defeating behaviors

Kids will go to a good school if a parent of theirs is willing to exchange the value of a good teacher’s time, and/or the children are pleasant to work with.

Many kids don’t get this because neither condition is met.

No one should be forced to work with hostile or disengaged children if they don’t want to.

Likewise, teacher’s should be able to respond to compensation.

Hence, richer or nicer families often get better teachers.

Their deeply mistaken analysis motivates them to ruin their own kids’ education by keeping them in ghetto schools. Tragic.

But when other kids despise learning, it’s negative sum. They drag down others.
