"Every year we hope 'this time will be different' for Odisha, and every year it’s the same story. Railways make huge revenue from our freight but give peanuts back for our connectivity. Our minerals build the country, but our demands are ignored with 20 Lok sabha MPs and 3 ministers from odisha! Really disappointed with #UnionBudget2026. We deserve better.

No high-speed rail corridor for Odisha?

East Coast Railway generates ₹23,000 crore in freight revenue and ₹2,000 crore in passenger revenue, breaking record after record every year.

Yet, Odisha is missing from the high-speed rail corridor and still has no Metro.

Siliguri can be connected with high-speed rail, but not a single city in Odisha?

What did Odisha get?
👉 Freight corridor passing through the state to move the minerals out.

A state that contributes massively to the national exchequer deserves better.

I express my disappointment on the #Budget2026 presented today by the Union Government. The budget has offered no noteworthy benefits to #Odisha and its people.

The anticipation from the people of Odisha was that the double engine government would offer a growth momentum with focus on infrastructure, job creation and additional allocation which is due to the state. The state has received very little.

I welcome the proposal to establish the Rare Earth Corridor in Odisha. Odisha is the leading producer of several key minerals and will always contribute to nation building through its rich resources.

It has again been announced to have National Waterways to connect mineral rich areas and industrial centres to the Ports. But this is a decade old proposal without any progress on the ground.

It is a huge disappointment for the people of Odisha that the announcement to develop seven High-Speed Rail corridors between cities as ‘growth connectors’ does not feature Odisha. Odisha BJP nipped the #BhubaneswarMetro project earlier and the neglect of people’s needs continues as usual.

And it’s quite baffling that the Tourism centric Scheme for Development of Buddhist Circuits has completely skipped Odisha despite having several very important Buddhist sites including our Diamond Triangle.

As seen from the entirety of the Union Budget, Odisha is getting allocations only for taking its natural resources away and completely ignored when it comes to resource allocation for benefit of people of the State.

It’s time the State BJP Govt takes responsibility for people of Odisha and ensure they get their rightful dues from centre. Odisha and its people deserve more and better from the Union Budget.

Semiconductors, high speed rails bippharma hubs, freight corridors all gone! #Odisha is left off the map. No special package, no new infrastructure,silence on airports , silence on Metro Rail project .

Returning to the Delhi air from Wayanad first, then Bachwara in Bihar is truly shocking. The pollution enveloping this city is like a grey shroud thrown over it.

It’s really about time all of us get together regardless of our political compulsions and do something about it. The central and state government need to act immediately, we will all support and cooperate with whatever actions they choose to take to mitigate this awful situation. Year after year the citizens of Delhi are subjected to this toxicity with no recourse.

Let me repeat: The three famous Jatras of Odisha must get ‘UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage’ tag.

• Ratha Jatra, Puri – The oldest & largest Ratha Jatra(chariot festival) in the world

• Bali Jatra, Cuttack – One of the biggest open-air trade fairs on the planet which celebrates maritime heritage of Odisha

• Dhanu Jatra, Bargarh – The world’s largest open-air theatre

These are not just festivals, they are Odisha’s living heritage and truly deserve the ICH tag by UNESCO.

Originated in the 11th–12th century, this indigenous Durga Puja tradition at Jagannatha Dham, Puri is unique in many ways. And, this is still in practice 🙏

I know repeating this won’t change anything, but I still feel like saying it - the exterior ads on CRUT buses look really ugly.

@arunbothra Thanks for bringing it out. 2nd highest manuscripts are of Odia language. A very tolerant and open society, Odias are quite resilient. However, off late there has been some attempts to widen certain faultlines to create social unrest.
