It would be one thing to refuse to prosecute sexual assault/digital rape by the other player in this case because it is difficult to ascertain intent.

It is another thing entirely to claim that female athletes consent to a risk of sexual assault by agreeing to compete.

Males must not be allowed to compete against girls and girls must not be forced to tolerate sexual assault as a consequence of competition.

We don't care! Registered Florida Republican voters demand a debate. There are at least 4 candidates in that race that have qualified to be on the ballot and that have enough support from the base to debate. Don't date tell us that a Lt. Governor and a former Speaker of the House aren't serious contenders that shouldn't participate in a debate. I would allow all that have qualified to be on the ballot to participate in a real debate. It's only about 5 or 7 candidates or make the threshold for polling lower. The base feels disenfranchised. This is a bad decision by the @TheFLGOP. Just change the rules. It's really that easy. This is an extremely important election. We are replacing the most consequential conservative governor that Florida has ever had. Republicans need to decide who is best to carry Governor DeSantis's legacy. We want a real debate of ideas and issues! We cannot allow polls and money from special interests to be the deciding factor. Plus, 42.9% Undecided says it all. There are too many Floridians who still don't know enough about the candidates. Make it fair and allow a robust debate or the GOP will have a lot of reluctant voters in their hands come the general election.

Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free.

I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these."

They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner.

This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat.

I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared.

Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man.

I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy.

Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived.

I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most.

Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.

Incredible. The Florida GOP’s "objective criteria" relies on a poll from the Associated Industries of Florida (AIF). Just one small detail: AIF endorsed Byron Donalds back in January and are donors. They aren't even hiding the coordination anymore.
