Spring is here and #crabwatch NEEDS YOU out there to help build a picture of the abundance and distribution of #crabs across Europe. This short 2min video tells you how https://t.co/bSm5V27yzN
European green crab? More like European rainbow crab! 🦀
Here's -some- of the carapace colour & pattern variations for Carcinus in SA. While most are usually green/black, we do get these awesome morphs!
@SensoryEcology have done incredible research in Carcinus colour variation
Any @PlymUni students interested in protecting and studying the ocean should join @SeaChampsSW at Mount Batten tomorrow for a beach clean and @thembauk@CrabWatch survey! More here: https://t.co/P0WMCiASu1
Great to share a project update with the #EMSEA2019 crowd in the Azores in the past week. Looking forward to receiving those we 🦀🦀 #records that will hopefully follow @thembauk#crabwatch
This from @WAgreencrab contains some fascinating stuff. How invasive green crab in the Pacific NW have rapidly evolved to be more effective predators than native European greenies. @thembauk @CrabWatch @CornishRockPool https://t.co/5kiOo0bJSM
In honour of #BiodiversityDay here’s a selection of the wonderful variation in just some of the crabs in UK rock pools, from shore and furrowed crabs to edible and spider crabs. They vary greatly in colour, shape, and lifestyle

" There's nothing more powerful than letting a kid go to the beach and hold a crab in his hand. Engaging with the marine environment can change lives" @mjattrill So true. Engaging with the marine environment as a child defined my life. 🐠🐟 🐬 🐳 🌊

Decorator crabs have microscopic hooks on their carapace, which allows them to attach things to themselves. In there case, it is often sessile organism like sponges, anemones, or seaweeds. This gives the crab incredible camouflage against the sea floor #fintasticfacts
Getting rather excited about this year's #YMBSummit in London on Sunday! Running a workshop on how and why to do marine #CitizenScience with examples from @CrabWatch & others.
I *think* there are tickets left: https://t.co/3L0Jv0B3q1 but not many! @thembauk@NHM_CitSci@EuCitSci
These are highly invasive mitten crabs Eriocheir sinensis. We certainly do not recommend transporting crabs in shoe boxes, but if you do find one let us know!
I’m dead, they stopped us boarding a train at St Pancras because they found a suspicious nike shoebox left on the carriage. Turns out it was full of live crabs
Day 3 of #EMSEA2018 kicks off with a keynote from @deidun @uniofmalta about the potential of marine #citizenscience projects.
