We used female yelloweye rockfish opercula to reconstruct lifetime (>80 yrs) reproductive and stress hormone profiles. Hormone profiles allowed us to estimate key reproductive parameters for fish population models! @cjfas

@maiab This happened the first time my mom and PJ got their labradoodle groomed. Whole different dog. My mom dramatically said she was “finding it hard to love her the same way”, lol. that was also at the most frustrating part of her puppyhood, so it might not have been the haircut.

@big_fish_lab WDFW’s genetics lab also does genetic prey ID work for us, though not typically from bones. Happy to chat more if you’d like.

@big_fish_lab OR Dept of Fish and Wildlife has a hard parts (otoliths, squid beaks, etc) expert who does their pinniped prey ID. We (WA DFW) have one who works part time and another we contract. Their collections may not have the species you need though.
