i understand that addiction and ptsd can cause people to do horrible things, and i’m open to believing that he’s grown and changed. but he’s asking to be one of 100 united states senators, and i think we should hold them to a higher standard

Nobody in this thread is. However I think you'd be very surprised at what the median voter finds acceptable!

And for the record, I have been in a bad relationship like that. So I get it but like, it's just not okay and frankly nothing will convince me otherwise.

My take on it was basically "I don't think he's a Nazi but I think it shows remarkably poor judgement to not cover that up before you run for Senate" and that's what it is, the poor Judgement

@section8atl @souljagoyteller I guess that's maybe the real sticking point here. This to me reads as textbook domestic violence. It is a violent action towards a domestic partner. But like Cassie Pritchard has said, I don't think the average American views things in that binary way.

@section8atl @souljagoyteller But at the same time ever since the tattoo thing (which alone was enough to make me take a step back) I've had this theory that he's sort of the leftwing Trump in the sense that many scandals all at once means none of them stick. Like Mr. Burns not dying because so many can't fit

@section8atl @souljagoyteller I guess it's not necessarily the moral actions I'm a vacuum. It's the pattern of poor decisions is what I'm skeptical of. I don't think this is another fetterman because that was a unique situation, but this could be bad still! And it's very well possible there is more coming.

@section8atl @souljagoyteller aren't wrong at all even if true and I guess I maybe took you for more as the latter. It can be frustrating to see people who I think have my morals and ethics ignore them. And maybe I'm a hypocrite cause I've done that too. I'm just heated right now I guess.

And I understand not believing this accusation (though frankly I do, I think it fits with his pattern of behaviors and probably suffering from PTSD) but some people just think these actions
