@RealMikeRother Recently came across an influential scientific thinker who is in full agreement with you:
"The mechanical application of certain rules ... is not sufficient if we do not try to understand their philosophy." -Henry Le Chatelier (1926)
Great interview. Thanks for sharing, Mike!
6/6 What else do we have to learn from the early pioneers? How much of the rebranding of well-established concepts under the various "flavors of the month" over the decades has hindered our understanding of the foundational principles?
5/6 As somebody who was taught (and taught others) that Taylorism was antithetical to "Respect for People," I was surprised that much of what we have been teaching in the OpEx community (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, etc) is not just lacking, but wrong.
1/8 Our English translation of Henry Le Chatlier's "Philosophy of the Taylor System" is now available on Amazon! This work was originally presented by Karol Adamieckiโa story for another post. #HenryLeChatlier#TaylorSystem#KarolAdamiecki https://t.co/8WcsK4cRjj
5/8 Without a foundational understanding of scientific management, you risk missing the rich history and could even perpetuate an incomplete, possibly inaccurate, origin story. #ManagementHistory#OriginStory
3/8 How many business students or OpEx practitioners even know that a mind like Le Chatelier, who shaped modern chemistry & physics, also devoted decades to scientific management? #OpEx#ScientificManagement#InfluentialMinds
