Please retweet, all dogs in the UK are required, by law, to be chipped after the age of 8 weeks. There is a £500 fine for non compliance.
All breeders MUST chip a puppy BEFORE sale. If the person that bred your puppy cannot give you the chip number or has not chipped the puppy, walk away as they are prepared to break the law for a sale and this is a huge RED FLAG!!
A vet can chip your cat or dog for a small fee. They do not always add your details. You need the chip number and database used to add your own details, or the chip will be of no use if your pet is lost or stolen.
From June 2024, all cats must be microchipped and registered on a database by the age of 20 weeks.
