I just took part in the #BigPlasticCount, UK’s biggest investigation into household plastic waste. Here’s what I found really happens to my plastic waste:
♻️9% recycled
🌍13% sent abroad
🔥51% burnt
⛰️27% sent to landfill
This is shocking, right?! @Jochurchill_MP@pow_rebecca
**Starting today** for one week only - print off this sheet and simply count how many plastic items you either put into the recycling or rubbish.
This info will provide a true insight into our plastic problem as a country.- https://t.co/hVfXUTz2VR @Greenpeace
MAKE ALL PLASTICS IN THE UK RECYCLABLE BY 2026: I'm not normally one to share petitions but I'm sure you'd all agree this one is something we all need to support - https://t.co/U5EwE5TFzT
@BorisJohnson Offshore workers need retraining, support and good green jobs - can we please invest in that and not new oil and gas? Please show leadership on this as Prime Minister. #BorisStopCambo
We see you Boris & Keir. We demand to know why weddings are not being treated fairly. The rules don’t seem to apply to you so why are we being targeted? We ask AGAIN #whataboutweddings@BorisJohnson@Keir_Starmer
Infuriating to hear so many reports today of registrars still telling couples that they can’t have readings or music, be walked down the aisle or must remain socially distanced despite the new guidance. This needs to be addressed urgently.

We are dismayed and incredibly concerned by @BorisJohnson’s comments this evening. So many businesses and couples are surviving right now solely on the promise of a full lifting of restrictions in June. We must keep speaking up. #whataboutweddings
Unacceptable. What @BorisJohnson is stating is weddings cannot in #weddingindustry hands: “quite sensibly be done in a COVID-secure way.” And he qualifies that slur with: “unless you manage it very carefully”. Which we can and which @GOVUK won’t accept | @scullyp over to you?
Thank you to @craig4nwarks for backing the return of weddings with covid secure weddings from 8th March and normal weddings from 1 May, completely in line with the vaccine roll out.

So those two Liverpool fans that don’t know each other and crossed social distanced seats to hug each other after that goal is fine because it’s a “controlled crowd” but I’m not allowed more than 15 at my wedding out of fear I might hug my mum? Thanks Torys... #whataboutweddings
@AndrewSparrow It’s fantastic news. Now we MUST support the businesses & workers who deliver the special celebrations. 400k jobs in over 150k businesses at risk in the short term, but with plenty of work to aid recovery of the economy. A £14.7bn sector that contributes so much to society.
Those in our wedding sector, the arts, small businesses need mental health support. The Government did a disservice by describing their careers an unviable.
They contribute immensely to our economy, we must celebrate the talents they have.
So I’ve just flown to Edinburgh and was told by staff that social distancing doesn’t apply on flights now?! So how is it ok to be with potentially 200 people on a plane but weddings are only for 15 @BorisJohnson?! #whataboutweddings
