Tonight was the very last candidate forum in the special election for County Supervisor, hosted by the Spring Valley Chamber and @BAPACSD.
Here was the first question:
“If elected, will black lives matter in your policymaking?”
I said YES.
John McCann said NO.
See my statement here on the news that my and @MayorToddGloria’s one cent sales tax proposal has unanimously moved forward to the full City Council for consideration.
Excited to welcome Summer Patton as a new Policy Advisor in my office! Summer joins the District 7 staff with expertise in policy and government relations. She will be focusing on housing, homelessness, childcare, and small business support in my office.
I am honored that I will be able to continue my service to District 7 and the City of San Diego as your Councilmember for a second term. See my full statement:
This morning, @MayorToddGloria signed the citywide Project Labor Agreement (PLA) into law. I couldn’t be more honored to stand with workers and join so many City and union leaders this morning for the PLA signing ceremony. Today is an exciting day for the future of San Diego.
This morning, I had the honor of revealing the winning design behind our region’s World Design Capital San Diego-Tijuana 2024 pavilion — a central place designed to elevate the visibility of the initiative, host gatherings, and much more.
Attention Navajo residents: due to the forecasted rains, the Navajo Town Hall -- previously scheduled for tomorrow -- will be rescheduled for when it is safer to attend. We will share details on the new date soon.
Today, the City Council unanimously approved a policy proposed by @vivianmorenosd and me that will prioritize reinvestment of hotel tax revenue into San Diego arts and culture. By investing in the arts, we invest in San Diego’s economic well-being and our quality of life.
Emma Palmer is a UCSD grad and comes to our office with experience in Congressman Mike Levin's office as well as at the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation. We could not be more excited to have Emma on the District 7 team. Welcome, Emma!
It was great to be in the community today with my team and Carpenters Local 619 participating in a turkey giveaway hosted by Bayside Community Center. Thanksgiving is all about caring for each other. All received a turkey, pie, and fresh produce.
Congratulations Justine on winning the Jill of All Trades award at the @SDChamber Legislative Lounge event tonight! It's so great to see you be recognized for all of the amazing work you do as my Deputy Chief of Staff and Policy Director. Thank you for everything you do.
From day one, I’ve done everything I can to deliver top notch constituent services because they really do make a difference in residents' lives. In this case, a nurse at Kaiser Vandever emailed to let us know how important a curb cut we got done back in August is for patients.
This morning, I joined @SDGE, @SeanEloRiveraD9, and @IBEW569 to celebrate the 1st year of a program that expands solar access for D7 residents and others. I've championed this project because it helps working families save on solar and drives San Diego toward our climate goals.
🧵At @CMRaulCampillo's urging, a @SDCityCouncil committee just voted to request that the City Attorney's Office work with Campillo's team on a resolution declaring a behavioral health bed crisis in @CityofSanDiego to present to the full City Council.
Happening tomorrow at San Diego City Hall. 👇
Context: New state mandates are expected to put more pressure on already clogged, overtaxed behavioral health system.

A San Carlos resident emailed to let me know that she appreciates my efforts to step up the penalties for hate littering. These flyers have real consequences for our community and we have to give the Police the ability to respond to them with the force of the law. #HateStopsHere
It was an honor to be on hand for the @radychildrens Pavilion groundbreaking earlier this week because families’ first priority is ensuring their children are safe, happy and healthy — and this new facility will help more families do just that.
