The Culturally Responsive Domestic Violence Network (CRDVN) is a statewide coalition of 20+ culturally-responsive and trauma-informed DV organizations in CA.
By failing to include $200M to maintain funding for victims’ services programs @GavinNewsom's #MayRevise allows steep cuts to core services for victims of violence throughout California.

Domestic violence victims need supports to recover and rebuild and cuts to federal VOCA funding put those supports in jeopardy. Thank you Assemblymember Reyes and colleagues for advocating for funding to fill the gap. @EGReyesCA

On Tues., Feb. 27, Maria Nembhard, Jenesse's Policy and Community Advocate, joined other @CrdvNetwork representatives at the California Assembly Select Committee on Domestic Violence hearing, focusing on prevention and economic security. #domesticviolence#dvprevention
At the intersection of DV and economic security, social enterprise and culturally responsive workforce training facilitate violence prevention. Tejeswi Dodda of @Maitribayarea at today's Assembly select committee hearing.

Economic independence is critical for survivors. A small increase in income leads to a decrease in #DV. Keely Linton of Strong Hearted Native Women's Coalition at today's Assembly Select Committee on Domestic Violence. #CALeg
Prevention has to be done at home, at school, and in the community. Ethnic specific communities have unique needs and we need to invest in working with culturally specific organizations that understand language, norms, and effective strategies. Nat Wadman of @CPAForg#CALeg
Education is prevention. And these learnings are a long-term investment. Funding for prevention is essential for LGBTQ and culturally specific organizations serving the needs of communities. Pablo Espinoza co-exec director of @CUAV to the Assembly Select Committee on DV #CALeg
Physical, emotional, financial, technological abuse, there's a need to talk about prevention with young people where they are, in schools, churches, their communities. Dr. Pamela Tate of Black Women Revolt testifying on #DVPrevention at Assembly select committee hearing #CALeg
.@cagovernor#CALeg we need you to #PutVictimsFirst and include $200M in ongoing funding in the state budget. With over 190 orgs supporting this request, now is not the time to turn on survivors of crime.

🧵 We are disappointed to see that @cagovernor did not include $200M in the #CABudget to support victims of crime. This lack of funding puts 400 programs across CA at risk of closing their doors, laying off staff, increasing wait times for essential services and so much more!
CA victim service providers rely on federal #VOCA funding, but with cuts looming, we need @cagovernor and #CALeg to support a state backfill so survivors of crime don’t experience a lack of essential services.
Karen Earl, CRDVN Lead & CEO of @JenesseCenter, testified before the Senate Public Safety Committee on AB 1028 (@AsmTinaMcKinnor) in July.
This bill ensures survivors can access healthcare by creating a survivor-centered approach that limits mandated reports to law enforcement!
The CRDV Network wishes you all a #HappyNewYear 💫
We are excited to grow our collective in 2024 with many more events, policy engagements, and community partnerships!
Let’s take a moment to reflect on 2023 🧵
In November, our members gathered for our annual CRDVN Retreat in Sacramento!
We were able to reconnect, relearn, and engage in extensive conversations guiding us forward into our work in 2024.
Are you ready to take action?

CRDVN is proud to support #AB1028 by @AsmTinaMcKinnor with @cpedvcoalition @AllianceforBMOC@withoutviolence@LALGBTCenter, joined by 88 supporting orgs, including DV advocacy programs & health care providers working on the front lines to support the health & safety of survivors!
Why do we support #AB1028? We agree with SF Gen trauma surgeon Dr. Caitlin Collins: “This bill is evidence-based, consistent with trauma-informed care, honors patient autonomy & does not restrict a provider from helping a patient engage law enforcement should they choose it.”
