@ktcznsky It started with Russian Empire, but traveling was difficult, so even though a lot of eastern regions joined Russia during that time, they were for the most part left alone, their subjugation and culture domination began during USSR, Russia is simply continues what they started.

@ktcznsky The difference was Europeans gave their colonies independance, USSR didn't, they absorbed eastern regions into itself, made their people work for them in dangerous physical jobs, all the natural resources are still being extracted and used to enrich western regions of Russia.
