@rajsinghchohan Think his main problem for us is that he is often coming deep to collect the ball to try and progress it himself - leads to either losing the ball while dribbling or making the wrong decision after a sprint because only players like KDB maintain quality of decision after a sprint
@rajsinghchohan We should now go and get Wharton. Should be Munoz on the right, Frimpong as his back up and Szobo playing RB. If you then want to add someone like Minteh, fine, but it’s secondary to the issue of the build up play that stems from that right side being fundamentally poor.
@TheRedmenTV Think it’s fantastic business. Gakpo gets a lot of undue stick but he’s worse than Barcola and would block Rio’s path, shouldn’t play over Munoz and in spite of what people thing is an awful back up striker. Should now go and get Wharton, play Szobo RB and Frimpong be backup RW
@PremLeaguePanel Can sign all the attacking talent we want, no combination in that pivot in sustainable. Nyoni and Grav is best with Szobo at RB, fixes the defensive and technical lacking of Frimpong too, but Nyoni can’t play all season. Should be going all in for Wharton
@Watch_LFC Nah, not to be overtly negative but the problem isn’t just the pivot, it’s also that our RB is a liability defensively and technically poor in possession. Frimpong should only ever be used further up the pitch, and without Bradley, it should therefore be Szobo Rb, Nyoni.
@EBL2017 Disagree - Wharton is underrated defensively and provides the passing range of Trent from deep which is what we’re often missing in build up. Scott has these traits, but lesser in favour of other areas. Grav-Wharton-Wirtz is basically perfect balance.
@TomL1ttle_ Way way way too drastic. Szobo RB, Nyoni on is correct. Could potentially move Frimpong up to RW and swap Rio to the left, but literally zero need for anything else. All changing half the team is gonna do is create an entirely new problem rather than fixing the old.
Has to be Szobo RB, Nyoni on second half. Frimpong could potentially go RW if you wanted to switch Rio to the left and take Gakpo off, but he should never be playing RB again. Lack of technical ability stunts the whole team, and Szobo Grav pivot lacks build up quality
@rajsinghchohan Couldn’t agree more. Frimpong shouldn’t be tried at RB unless absolutely necessary - has stalled three different promising transitions with poor technical play. Feel even MacA would be an upgrade if not Nyoni given Newcastle don’t have their usual physicality.
@PremLeaguePanel Think (if he doesn’t continue to be used at fullback) this is the season he takes Dias’ place. Expect NOR-Guehi-Gvardiol-Nunes to be Maresca’s preferred choice given the build up potential it offers.
@rajsinghchohan Always liked him. Thought when Chelsea sold him that it was potentially because they foresaw playing a different style of LB in Hall, but then they sold him 3 days later. Really strange choice to have two solid young left backs distinct in style and sell them to top 6 competitors
@jamesallcott Yeah, not really a big England person but to me, he’s coming back down on his right foot to protect the ball. Not really sure why placing your foot in a position where the defender has to go through you to get the ball results in it not being a foul.
@PremLeaguePanel Think it’s time to call death on MacA starting. Offered nothing, even when paired with defensively sound midfielders who took the work off him.
@rajsinghchohan Genuinely starting to wonder if he’s been profiled wrong and would be better playing further up. Watching him on this left side when Argentina have the ball, his crossing has produced some of their best moments.
@rajsinghchohan Think the reason he’s put 5 tall players on was to combat the headers. Jimenez was the clear threat, their goal would likely have come aerial. We’ll see if it holds, if it doesn’t, England are in trouble, cause they’ve over committed to it
@PremLeaguePanel Think Koeman has played VDV at LM to try and limit Hakimi by making him his man, but all he’s doing is leaving space in behind OOP and struggling to hold width or receive the ball wide IP. Needs to change asap, Ake off for another midfielder who can receive in the half space.
@PremLeaguePanel Wirtz should be used in a pocket if at LW. Most recent example I’ve seen that’s similar is probably De Zerbi using Simons at LW with Udogie overlapping. Find it mental that anyone would look at a player of Wirtz’ creative calibre and think otherwise
@rajsinghchohan Confused how they expect to play to be honest. 5 at the back? Can’t see Dumfries and Cucurella working otherwise, but Vini and Mbappe in a 2 striker system with Bellingham and a pivot behind feels horribly balanced.
