@lambeth_council @Martin_Abrams concerns are being raised regarding the lack of action against ice cream vans on the South Bank including one without a permit (the blue one).

We spoke to a traffic warden today who says the Council are aware of the situation which has been ongoing for quite some time.

A fixed penalty ticket of 60 pounds is placed on the windscreen and they are left to continue trading unlawfully.

There are no prices and threats were made to a customer who challenged the £10 price for 2 scoops in a paper cup.

What is the Council doing about this, the perception of some is that someone is turning a blind eye and may be linked to organised crime.

@London_Centric has been doing good work on exposing the ice cream van situation on Westminster Bridge.

Hopefully he will move on to exposing the situation on the Southbank to raise awareness and prevent tourists being scammed.

Our volunteers will be on the Bridge Sunday 30 August 2026 helping to keep tourists safe from pickpockets, scammers and speeding cyclists.

@London_Centric well done, we are on the Bridge later today.

We focus on the costumed scammers mainly but the Bridge remains an embarrassment.

We report the ice cream vans unlicensed traders, pedicabs etc

Politics, incompetence and bureaucracy are the main barriers to getting anything done.

There are also the Albanian run ice cream vans on the South Bank which are also not dealt with.

Keep up the good work @London_Centric in raising awareness.

@MetCC No doubt very busy weekend with Notting Hill but a quick update nevertheless regarding Westminster Bridge today.

Several Pedicabs and 3 ice cream vans on the bridge.

Several unlicensed traders, hot dogs. caramelised peanuts.

Fake painting scammers.

2 unlicensed photographers.

No costume scammers yet who will likely appear with the rose sellers once we have left.

A road rage incident being dealt with by the police.

Several pickpockets deterred.

Photos taken of tourists by us to prevent them being taken advantage of by the photography scammers.

Plenty of signposting and travel directions and meeting nice people.

Volunteers now leaving the bridge, video footage available.
