I hope anyone who is reading this is having a decent day and that you know you're loved. β€π€
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers You don't see other college educated professions asking for more money because, generally, they are being treated and paid as college educated professionals. Teachers are not treated as college educated professionals. They are treated like glorified babysitters but paid far less.
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers And if living the life of a teacher is so cushy then you should be willing to do it.
If youre not gonna do it yourself then I have no idea why you're sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. If you're not willing to, you have no right to tell us what we do or don't deserve.
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers Its just being pushed because their workload has doubled or tripled this year trying to, all at once, teach and mentor children and also meet their mental, physical, emotional, bodily needs during a damn pandemic when life and stability may be up in the air
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers Teachers asking for raises is not a new thing - teachers are trained (usually) college educated professionals and they are not being paid as such.
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers We are in a damn pandemic. We are all human. We are asking teachers to be superhuman right now.
Im not saying no one else is struggling or being super human - but Jesus christ give the people some slack. We are human. We are living through a pandemic. We are trying our hardest.
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers Id like you to remember that this year is not normal for anyone. Schools are all letting online kids off the hook for some things. They will be further behind in their learning. But not for lack of effort on the teachers-that is largely on the parents and students' accountablity.
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers Comparing teachers and health care workers is comparing apples to oranges.
Health care workers signed up to work in health care.
Teachers signed up to teach.
No one signed up for a pandemic.
Im not sure why you are so against teachers but I wish you could get some perspective
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers Live the life of a teacher for a year then tell me the same.
Then try living as a teacher for a year during a pandemic.
Let's see if you are still mentally sane.
Teachers are literally educating our future. Not quite sure why you're so against them.
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers Teachers aren't paid for the work they do. Teachers are paid for their contracted hours. So all those hours spent outside working are done on our time.
We are filling so many roles in a child's life but we are called "teacher"
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers Because we also have to facilitate it for the children and keep them safe too.
There are good resources out there, but preparing lessons is so much more time consuming because it has to be done in different ways and with more detail
@forte_bass You would have to introduce player stats wouldn't you? How would you categorize skill level?? Would players pick their skill level?? I would love to be able to see my win/lose rate within the game.
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers I can promise you that for the majority of teachers, covid teaching is much harder and MUCH MORE time consuming than it already was when we were doing school before covid.
@Billy4296 @ISTAmembers Teachers have also had to learn countless new technologies and softwares as well as figuring out how to adapt lessons meant to be done in-person to be online. Everyone suffers from technology burnout because no one was prepared or used to using this much tech in or for school.
@MarkNechanicky I agree with this. I've seen teachers try to do this a few times and it never goes over well in the room. I hope to go into my new class somewhere in the middle and go from there.
@ncarroll24 Exactly! When we switched desks, we got to spray our name and then scrub them off and make our desks clean again. It was always a satisfying time (:
