@LaplaceAtelier Very cool! Gave it a once-over and I'm already loving it. The new object options are really appreciated!
I just started GMing Ryyutama, and I always brew for my games, so it's really nice to see others also deving on it!
@delaneykingrox I've played a lot of Savage Worlds, and really like its mechanics. I'm actually working on a project to build my own system based on it, but was struggling with what to do beyond d12. Going to d10+d4 could work - I'll have to run some numbers on it!
@JazzElves Few months back I got a *feeling* for a superhero game & wrote a few pages of D&D-tone rules. I kept feeling like the rules weren't expressing everything... because they weren't explaining the vibes.
Big surprise - when we playtested it, the vibes never quite clicked into place.
@JazzElves Thank you for sharing this thread! My big takeaway as a beginner at ttrpg design is: if the vibes are most of the game, then add *at least* as much text explaining the vibes as explaining the rules.
@ItsXDeej The Moon Druid 10 / Barbarian 3 that I DM for just did her first raging elemental wild shape... Which promptly got taken down by about 20 cannons shooting at her.
Can confirm this balance math holds up in the field.
@eldritchmouse VERY cool idea! BotW's problem-solving superpowers are so important to it's vibe, but coming up with a TTRPG friendly alternative is *hard*.
I'd suggest some dungeons have "tutorial tiles", which are a different color, respawn if wasted, but can't be taken out of the dungeon.
@RRollplaying Shitty Character Idea:
A beloved wizard who uses imagination magic to create countless fantastical ideas. He sends the best ones out to the masses via little blue birds.
@wildrosemage I just figured out what to do with consumables last week, after putting the project on hold for 10 months because I couldn't crack it.
Formula: Given PC's max spell slot level is N, 1 quest's per-PC reward should = price of consumable spell of level N-1, or 2 of level N-2.
@wildrosemage I have spent 6 months coming up with an internally mathematically consistent magic item rating and pricing system purely to solve this problem in my home game. I could write a whole paper about it; it's all consuming; please send help-
It's the next day and I finally figured out the last 1/3 of the joke...
A Chronurgy Wizard named Nickolas *who only casts reaction spells*.
Folks call them Nick of Time.
@deathbybadger Played with friends tonight, as an in-universe follow up to our loss in The Prime Minister Won't Resign.
17 turns ended with 4 destination, 10 pursuit, and *-9 bones*! We started sacrificing bones from our party to pay the debts... including from the horse.
@iammattsanders Each branching path or opportunity for a wandering threat to find them simply boils down to a single dice roll, which is impacted by their Clank level.
Just ran part 1 last night, so I'll have to see how it goes. But this is the first time I've been excited to run a dungeon!
@iammattsanders Narrative dungeon crawl with no map until the party hits a combat encounter. Then I'll drop a map that best fits the portion of the dungeon they're in.
The space between maps is governed by skill checks, an abstract Clank variable (cumulative noise made), and a random dice roll.
