@earing_taylor @persianofntrest @SuzyBogue @LexiAnd93542587 It is one of the more popular ones. other regions also practice Buddhism, Sikhism, and Taoism.

@persianofntrest @SuzyBogue @LexiAnd93542587 I went to one for a school field trip. From what I remember it had very plain walls and elaborate little alters to pray at. We were also required to take our shoes off at the entrance.

@persianofntrest @MattBougie1 @LexiAnd93542587 I feel they would because they would still allow people to come together.

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@LexiAnd93542587 They founded a Hindu temple so that they could observe their native faith.

@jaredda51798953 @BuesHannah That is an interesting thought.
#indiapatel

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@BuesHannah Probably due to language skills and the fact that they are proficient enough in English to not need to stay near people who speak their same language.

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@bolwerk_21 He is awesome in Parks and Rec!

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

Q5Z: Would say colonization in the long term helped Indians due to the western skills they picked up which have given them better opportunity’s in the US and other nations they have moved to?
#indiapatel

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@bolwerk_21 @BuesHannah I remember the book mentioned this occurred because they would rather own a small business than labor for another company for low wages. Rather work for themselves than for others.

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@kali_2222 I would agree that is has its drawbacks to use the "model minority" label.
#indiapatel

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

Q3: The chapter talked about a how Indians are a “model minority.” Top you think this works in inspire other minority groups to achieve the same status?
#indiapatel

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@jaredda51798953 Thats a great way of looking at it. A snowball effect.
#indiapatel

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@bolwerk_21 Great point. That is sort of what I was thinking too.

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

Q2: Why do you think Indians choose to have close ties to their homes yet not want to replicate that in the US to feel more at home?

@kali_2222 @maryc_snc Great point

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@jaredda51798953 Its probably hard for a while but eventually I assume they get used to it.

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@GabeDewar @AirdBrendan I thought the map in the textbook showed it as a large secondary immigration gateway...

[TheRealLukeCrotteau @CrotteauThe]

@BuesHannah @kali_2222 @GabeDewar @earing_taylor @jaredda51798953 @harryjfranz @maryc_snc I feel the biggest reason is to give themselves a sense of belonging in a new area. They are in a new environment and are seeking out that community attachment.
