@Daniel_Sugarman So now the position is that Green Party people do in fact apologise for mistakes/oversights. We had Polanski on newsnight refusing such a thing
@residentadviser He could do some pacts with Lib Dem’s regarding getting a National Care Service through… A united soft-left/centre vs a divided right? Idk
@v_j_freeman I was listening to Dom Cummings on a podcast where he said how instead of trying to hack into a high security comms site outside London, China had simply bought the building that housed it.
@v_j_freeman The best strategy imo is to front load the economic pain at the start of the term (like the coalition years), hold your nerve and then splash the goodies at the end (long term economic plan etc etc). These days they just dole out cash and kick the can down the road
@v_j_freeman Fundamental issue is that it’s a loveless mandate based on ‘not being the Tories’, and has seen U-turn after U-turn based on the slightest pressure from backbenchers because there was no defining agenda. Better to have a majority of 1 in lock step than whatever this is.
@v_j_freeman Is he just gonna do what everyone else has done, which is front load the goodies and then kick the can down the road? We’ll never get to do difficult bit of the 10-year plan because we never do…
@v_j_freeman Oh for sure, add them to the list! Jeremy Hunt was on a podcast talking about copying the French arrondissements and allowing them to keep locally raised taxes. He mentioned a whole area getting free broadband because they allowed a data centre to be built in their region etc.
@v_j_freeman I’ve been increasingly radicalised that we need a decade long dictatorship where we sod everything else and just do Nuclear power stations, roads, railways, housing etc. until we lower the cost of doing things we’re never gonna break the vicious cycle of low growth.
@Mike_Fabricant@BorisJohnson Might disagree on policy but she’s right to do this. Better to have a majority of 1 in lock step than the current loveless paper tiger majority Labour has.
