Stopping by our outer watch towers and barracks during my travels has helped me realize.... Some of our fortifications are very... Close to dereliction.
@NightHuntTales He assumed that was the plan.
But in an effort to respect her wishes...
"I will come as far as you would like me to. Besides. I'm not necessarily equipped..."
Weeks pass since the trip from Targon, heavy boot falls on the creaking wooden deck as he takes rope in hand and begins to heave. The ship is tied off and he lands on the port.
He makes for an inn, somewhere where he can send a message. @NightHuntTales
@NightHuntTales He chuckles.
"Well, less cheating... more predictable...."
It wasn't a bad thing for him.
"I've been on the northern borders a fair amount, not the best place for plate armor. I'd love to sight see too."
@NightHuntTales There's a gentle breeze and he lets the peace of the moment settle.
"What would you like to draw next? If you could go anywhere else to draw next."
@NightHuntTales "Almost like a combat manual."
He sighs out, fingers interlacing upon hers.
"Diligently studying as always."
He places a kiss atop her head, happy to smell something other than hay and old wood.
"What else did you sketch?"
@NightHuntTales He watches her flick through pages. It did feel she got better from her previous drawings but it seemed to him as if she had always had a knack for it.
Sketches of temples, food, beaches, people at work, sparring, living...
"It's fascinating to see what catches your eye."
@NightHuntTales He leans over, no longer foreign to mundane brushes of skin contact as he let's his shoulder rest on hers.
He looks at the sweeps of charcoal on paper, fine strokes. Practiced.
"I didn't know you could draw Shauna... When'd you start this?"
@NightHuntTales "Is that me...?"
He grins, looking at the gesture drawing. It was him swinging a plow. There's something he likes about that far more than he thought.
@NightHuntTales He leans down to sit next to her, placing the bowl next to her and balancing the rest in his large forearm pressed against his chest.
Eyes flick to her drawing, clearly she wasn't trying to hide it but he didn't want to remark unwantedly until he realized...-
@NightHuntTales It's some time past noon when he joins her, offering down some cheese, bread, fresh produce, and two bowls of just warm enough stew.
He notices her buried in a book, he smiles remembering their youth.
"From the Farmer's wife, she thought you'd be hungry by now."
@NightHuntTales Garen found himself taking to tasks rather easily, much of it felt like army work. Repairing fences was less involved than setting up entrenchments. He was surprised by how well he was able to take to this life, but even then he gardened at home. -
@NightHuntTales He obliges, pulling her close as he gently presses his lips against hers, the sound of the contact always exciting him, he presses down his eagerness however continuing gentle kisses, his hand running through her hair.
Peace. He was at peace.
@NightHuntTales He feels his ears grow hot from her gaze, but he doesn't shy from it. He pulls his shirt off over his head and brings himself to her eye level, crouching to a kneel then to join her on her mat, hand at the bend of her waist.
"Not much room for both of us, unless we squeeze."
@NightHuntTales "Oh come now, you're no longer Lady Vayne you've said so yourself you kn-"
He looks over his shoulder to peer at what kept her so preoccupied.
@NightHuntTales He's busy splashing himself down with water from the well, wanting to wash off the day's ardor turning he spots her ogling, smirking in response. He spreads his cloak over a hay pile adjacent her bedroll.
"This is admittedly a luxury. I could sleep on hard stone if needed."
@NightHuntTales Despite the winter conditions, there was still hay to move, wagons to fix, and fields and fences to repair. He's rolled up his sleeves and carries heavy timber with ease but not without sweat.
He wipes his brow with the bottom of his shirt exposing skin and looks at her.
