It’s kind of wild that in the last three Super Bowls the Eagles have appeared in, they lost a total of 4 coordinators to head coaching jobs. Each time, it put them in a tough spot, having to wait until after the Super Bowl while most of the league’s openings were already filled.

That got me wondering: how often does this actually happen to Super Bowl teams? The answer will surprise you.

Here’s every Super Bowl matchup since the Eagles 2018 run and whether a coordinator was hired after the game:

- 2026 Seahawks vs. Patriots – No (still 2 HC openings)
- 2025 Eagles vs. Chiefs – Yes (Kellen Moore)
- 2024 Chiefs vs. 49ers – No
- 2023 Eagles vs. Chiefs – Yes (Shane Steichen, Jonathan Gannon)
- 2022 Rams vs. Bengals – Yes (Kevin O’Connell)
- 2021 Buccaneers vs. Chiefs – No
- 2020 Chiefs vs. 49ers – Yes (Robert Saleh)
- 2019 Patriots vs. Rams – No
- 2018 Eagles vs. Patriots – Yes (Frank Reich, Matt Patricia)

Even before accounting for this year (which could add two more) there have been 16 teams in these Super Bowls and only 7 coordinators hired afterward.

Four of them came from the Eagles.
The rest of the league? Just three.
