In 2021, I graduated as the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at FUOYE while also serving as Student Union President.
At the time, it felt like a major achievement. But as I began applying for opportunities, I learned something important:
Opportunities are not reserved for those with the highest CGPA.
I met students with Second Class Lower and even Third Class degrees who secured fully funded scholarships, international opportunities, and remarkable career paths. What made the difference was not just their grades. It was how they positioned themselves, told their stories, built their profiles, and presented their experiences.
School is important, but success after school is often determined by what you do beyond the classroom.
That realization is one of the reasons Xcel360 exists.
This Saturday, we'll be discussing Career Development & Scholarship Pathways and how AI can help students and young professionals position themselves for opportunities, growth, and impact.

Celebrating fathers and father figures who are not just raising children, but preparing them for the future.
I've got a friend then in school that could not eat boiled Yam whenever he tries it, he'd cry of stomach pain all day..
But guess what, he'd eat fried yam and nothing would happen.
Introducing the 2026-27 Vector Scholarship in AI recipients! 🌟
We're thrilled to announce 100 exceptional graduate students across Ontario have each received a $17,500 scholarship – $1.75 million invested in Canada's AI future.
This year's cohort comes from 13 universities, spanning computer science, engineering, health informatics, data science, and business. Now in its ninth year, the program has supported more than 900 students at Ontario universities since 2018.
"We're proud to support 100 exceptional students this year with $17,500 scholarships, but the real value of the Vector Scholarship in AI is the powerful ecosystem they join. From day one, recipients are connected to mentors, peers and industry leaders who help transform them from graduate students into the researchers, entrepreneurs and practitioners who will define the next decade of AI in this province." – Melissa Judd, VP, Research Operations and Academic Partnerships, Vector Institute
Congratulations to all of this year’s recipients and all the best in your incredible journeys ahead.

Inflation rate dropped: 35% to 15% - Effect probably gon take like a decade.
Dangote increases petrol price: Price has changed in filling station even before the news hit the airwaves.
Why?
lol, I remember when I was building software for students back then. I built a system for paying staff salaries.
I needed Paystack transfer API to make it work, but my account was limited. So I devised a plan.
On the day of the defense, I sat at the back, opened my Union bank app, and kept the transfer screen ready.
While she was presenting, she reached the salary payment section.
She asked one of the lecturers to call out his account number. As he was saying it, I was entering the details.
The moment she clicked submit, I initiated the transfer and boom, the lecturer got an alert 😂😂
All the lecturers started clapping for her. They even told all the students to clap. The lady had no idea I was behind the transfer, not the system 😂
She later got "A" in the project
The cheat code nobody talks about: Being reliable. Answer emails quickly. Show up on time. Do what you said. Keep small promises. Remember details. In a world where everyone is flaky, reliability looks like genius. It's not talent.
The book “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell thoroughly explains this concept.
That’s why I consider it one of the most important books you must read as a human being.
Because once you do, you begin to ask yourself “What is my unfair advantage leverage?”
Sometimes, it’s your family. Sometimes it’s a friend or your schoolmates. Sometimes, it’s a circle of people building something new which you’re a part of. Sometimes, it’s someone in your network who is unfairly accessible to you.
Look inward. Reach out. Collaborate and exploit those advantages to succeed.
Leverage is like a springboard. It helps you move upwards faster, and quicker.
Even Moses in the Bible had leverage. He was raised in Pharaohs house like a King. It was why Pharaoh could listen to him and respect his audience when he found his own purpose.
The person who will take you to the next level of success in life, the chances are high that you’ve already met them. You just haven’t thought deeply enough yet. And even if you haven’t, now is the time to start building new, genuine connections that will in time, grant you your much desired leverage.
Selah.
