When we lost to Tech in 2000, and Coach Donnan got fired, a lot of fans said we should refuse our bowl invite to the Oahu Bowl.

I'm immensely appreciative that our Staff and Administration rejected that nonsense.

That trip to Hawaii was an amazing way to end my tenure at UGA, and I played more minutes in that game than I did, well, probably cumulatively in my career. I hold memories from that trip - times spent with guys on the team that I barely knew otherwise - in high regard. We still joke about moments from those days on the island a quarter-century later.

There are seniors at Notre Dame who won't be around for the "revenge tour" next year... and won't go play in the NFL. Those seniors worked their ass off all season, won 10 games, and their reward for that is "Hey, we feel like we got shafted, so we're gonna end your career prematurely."

Yeah, I know... sometimes Life Sucks... but this is a completely unavoidable circumstance that isn't the fault of a committee, but rather an Administration and a Coach who, either because of Ego, or misplaced sense of Righteousness have chosen to pick up their ball, and go home.

I'll be interested to see what happens with Notre Dame - whether this creates "buy-in" from the players, or we see an outsized departure into the Transfer Portal.

I imagine it'll be the former, as the jilted Seniors wouldn't be portal bound, and everyone else could be convinced they are slighted and need to "play with a chip on their shoulder from now on."

There will be no mention of "hey guys, if we had just beaten Miami..."

No, it'll all be "they took something from you."

But really, the "they" here, is the Notre Dame admin, and Coach Marcus Freeman.

I feel Shame for Notre Dame.

(btw - I've been writing a little blog called "The LazyTop25" all season - I'll put a link in the replies - and in my version, they were in.. so this isn't a 'He just hates Notre Dame' thing. I rib them a lot, but held no real animosity...until today. This is, in my opinion, just gross).
