The pastor then declared that my brother was responsible for my dad’s problems. Meanwhile, my brother wasn’t even living with us.
I was in my room secretly listening to their conversation from the sitting room but nothing was making sense to me 😔
Two things kept running through my mind:
Firstly…
How was my dad suddenly allowing this pastor into our flat after openly disliking her and the church for so long?
Secondly…
my dad was an educated and exposed man from a well-to-do family, his dad was a well known judge and siblings are lawyers, so how was he suddenly believing things like this?
The whole thing confused me deeply.
Then the pastor ordered my dad to bring my brother for “deliverance.” 😔
I don’t know what happened afterwards..
Fast forward to two Sundays after during service, the pastor suddenly started pouring oil on my body and told me to confess.
I asked:
“Confess what?”
The pastor then ordered the usher to take me to the “deliverance room.” 😭
Till today, I still remember one of the usher clearly because he had a very large dark something across his forehead, he seems close to the pastor.
As they were dragging me away, I heard my stepmum quietly telling the pastor:
“I need to inform her father first…”
That evening when we got home, my stepmum explained everything to my dad and begged him to allow “Mummy” conduct deliverance for me because they genuinely believed I was responsible for my dad’s problems 😔
At that point, I could feel confusion in my dad’s voice when he asked asked my stepmom:
“But wasn’t so so person she first mentioned? How is it Olajumoke again?”
That was when she explained that the pastor said I had spiritually changed my fave to my brother’s own so people would think he was the possessed one..
According to her, after prayers, “God revealed” that I was actually the person behind everything all along.
As a child, I remember sitting there confused and terrified, listening to adults genuinely believe those things about me and in that moment, I knew immediately that I might not survive it. I cried throughout that night. The next day, my dad went out and before he got back, I was already taken to the church by my mum stepmom.
I was Blindfolded.
Tied up.
Beaten constantly.
No food.
No water.
Just torture and accusations 😔
By the third day, I already felt like life was slowly leaving my body.
Then suddenly, through the darkness, I heard a voice screaming:
“Ọmọ mi dà?”
(Where is my child?) 😭
It was my mum.
Till today, I still cannot explain the relief I felt hearing her voice that day.
Apparently, she attended vigil back home and after the vigil, she slept and dreamt that she was burying me.
She woke up immediately, prayed and called my dad demanding to speak with me. That was when he casually told her:
“She’s in church for deliverance.”
My mum entered the next bus to Badagry immediately. When she arrived, my stepmum initially refused to show her where I was until my mum became aggressive with them.
It was then she finally led her to the church. My mum found me unconscious inside that dark room. She carried me like a dead child and rushed me to the hospital 😔
A lot happened and unfolded during that period.
Sadly, it was also around that same time that Baba Kola Olawuyi passed away(Nkan Nbe)
But I’ll stop here for now.
So yeah, that was what almost killed me.
Maybe if I didn’t have a praying mother, I probably wouldn’t be alive today.
I honestly don’t know what to say further but all I know is that some experiences never truly leave you 😔
They may stop hurting loudly, but they quietly change the way you see life forever.
Thankfully, I survived, I healed and I chose peace over my trauma. I have forgiven everyone involved and moved on with my life…

Till today, I know it wasn’t luck
It was God in a praying mother.
God in a brother driving through traffic
God in a stranger who chose compassion.
That experience stays with me till today.
Genuinely, we still have a lot of good people in Nigeria. I won’t forget that woman.

I have officially finished reading the entire Bible for the first time ever.
I went 5 years without reading the Bible after I was saved. My sins kept me from it.
When I started reading the Bible 13 months ago, my entire life and relationship with Jesus changed.
Before I was dead in my sin and now I am alive in Christ.
Reading the living word of God is the single most important part of being a follower of Christ.
This is a daily necessity that must be prioritized. Now more than ever.
Do not trust any man (especially pastors) to read it to you. Read it for yourself. The Holy Spirit will guide you.
✝️”But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4
✝️”For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Six years ago, my father worked as a ride vendor in Lagos and he got shot while he was closing an offline trip in the evening.
I was in my last year of secondary school and sitting for WASSCE at the time.
I watched the panel session of UBA's Tony Elumelu and Tan Su Shan of Singapore’s DBS Bank at the Qatar Economic Forum. It was fascinating to see how these two banking executives approached the same questions.
One gave actionable insights. The other was bland and basic. 😕
Dear Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer , I think the government is being hypocritical with this immigration rhetoric by picking on the weakest: The immigrants. The same applies to the @Conservatives and the @reformparty_uk
You are all deceiving the British public by projecting the immigrants as the problems of this country. They are not.
- Many Britons have been on benefits for years and have not returned to work.
- A leave-to-remain application costs an immigrant £2587.50 IHS fees plus an application fee of £1321 every 30 months and slightly less for their dependants.
- This is despite the immigrants paying taxes and making national insurance contributions
- A lot of the doctors and nurses in our hospitals are immigrants. The NHS will collapse without their presence.
- A lot of carers are immigrants. Where are the British people?
Bringing a spouse to the UK costs the sponsor about £5000 in immigration health surcharge and application fees.
- The government is making a lot of money by milking the immigrants and presenting them as good for nothing.
- Asylum applications take ages to be decided.
While the government has the right to control the influx of immigrants, it should not portray them as problems in our society. Give them the credit they deserve. In their desperation to win elections, I believe the political parties are misleading the public.
I am so disappointed by the Black and Asian MPs in the UK parliament. They are not representing their constituents but are after their own interests. We wait!
