Youth power is both the agent of change and the greatest beneficiary of change.
Delighted to host the Punjab contingent of youthful, intelligent and knowledgeable Young Leaders and achievers who are in New Delhi to participate in Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026.

The brilliant youth, drawn from various colleges of Punjab were also joined by their friends from other states and a foreign participant from Lesotho, shared their experiences, ideas and aspirations with clarity and enthusiasm to power PM Sh @narendramodi Ji’s vision of Viksit Bharat.

We interacted at length over nuances of India’s energy sector including sustainability and affordability of fuel, various visionary welfare schemes launched under the leadership of PM Modi Ji, India’s transition from women-centred development to women-led development and aspirations of youth as young leaders for the future that lies ahead for them as citizens of a powerful and viksit nation.

It was indeed heartening to see the way my young guests, accompanied by state officials, were full of hope, energy and confidence. A very accomplished and award winning poet also recited a poem, touching upon syncretic values that India nurtures and the way forward for a nation united by its vivid diversity.
The event was capped by a lively cultural performance of Jhumar, a traditional Punjabi folk dance by a team of some very talented Young Leaders.

I had first appeared on BBC HARDtalk in 2002 as India’s Dy High Commissioner to the UK for a pointed discussion on cross border terrorism with Tim Sebastian in what was then regarded as a rigorously researched program.
More than two decades later, I had an interesting conversation with the current host Stephen Sackur (before the program signs off sometime next month), on India’s awe inspiring journey under the leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji, the distance our energy sector has travelled, our focus on climate goals and green energy transition, the future of fossil fuel as it firmly competes with emerging fuels, and on India’s vibrant democracy, strengths of our democratic institutions, robustness of our fourth estate, freedom of expression, and above all, what appears to fascinate many around the world, our firm and confident march into a glorious future towards being #ViksitBharat or a developed nation.

7 वर्षों से चली आ रही डिमांड हुई पूरी!

उपभोकताओं को मिलेंगी बेहतर सेवाएं पर पेट्रोल और डीज़ल के दामों में कोई बढ़ोतरी नहीं।

तेल कंपनियों द्वारा दूरदराज़ स्थानों (तेल विपणन कंपनियों के पेट्रोल और डीजल डिपो से दूर) पर स्थित उपभोक्ताओं को लाभ पहुंचाने के लिए अंतर-राज्य माल ढुलाई को युक्तिसंगत बनाने का भी बड़ा निर्णय।

इससे बहुत जगहों के उपभोक्ताओं के लिए पेट्रोल और डीजल होगा और सस्ता!

I welcome the announcement by OMCs to increase the Dealer Commission payable to petrol pump dealers & the decision to undertake intra-state freight rationalisation to benefit consumers located at remote locations (far from Petrol and Diesel depots of OMCs) which will result in a decrease in petrol & diesel prices in several parts of the country. (Decision in poll bound states and constituencies will be implemented later).

This reflects PM @narendramodi Ji’s vision to bring even far flung areas at par with rest of the country in terms of facilities to our citizens, such as the North East Region which has being connected with world class road, air and rail infrastructure.

For example, in Kunanpally & Kalimela in Odisha’s Malkangiri petrol price will reduce by ₹4.69 & ₹4.55; and Diesel price will reduce by ₹4.45 & ₹4.32 respectively.
Similarly, price will reduce by ₹2.09 in petrol price and ₹2.02 in diesel price in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma.

The dealer commission increase will better services to approximately 7 crore citizens who visit our fuel retail outlets in the country everyday, without increasing fuel prices.

The fulfilment of this demand pending for the last 7 years will bring joy and happiness in the lives of Petrol Pump Dealers and nearly 10 lakh staff working at more than 83,000 petrol pumps across the country.

The way for these historic decisions was paved by positive decisions taken by Modi Govt and all the Petrol Dealers Associations who came together in our meetings during last few months and agreed to withdraw all the pending court cases pertaining to issues related to Marketing Discipline Guidelines (MDGs).

Pehle Indian, Phir Oil!

As the Indian Oil & Gas family celebrates the 65th Indian Oil foundation day, I wish to highlight an often ignored facet of our energy journey and the silent contributions of our energy soldiers in ensuring that India always keeps ticking, never short of petrol, diesel, never short of gas cylinders, come cyclones, storms, landslides or floods.

In the last one year, floods in Assam, unprecedented rains and subsequent landslides in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Kerala, different parts of our country have unfortunately been hit by natural calamities.

While the brave personnel of @NDRFHQ, #SDRF supported by other local and central forces worked round the clock to ensure relief and rescue, not many people notice the work in the background that our Oil Companies do on a war footing like #GoodCorporateCitizens to ensure all possible support.

ATF supplies were rushed to the forward helipads from places as far as Dehradun, Saraswa and Mohali as stranded locals and tourists had to be rescued and evacuated from hilly areas of Uttarakhand by air due to landslides on the roads.

A 24*7 war room was set up @PetroleumMin staffed by senior officials and our Oil Marketing Companies lead by @IndianOilcl to ensure that affected people reached their destinations as quickly as possible. Operations to rescue the stranded was done in a #MissionMode, to ensure that whole of government approach enunciated by PM @narendramodi Ji, came alive at a time of concern for all of us.

Even as the entire world suffered 40-70% fuel inflation during last 3 years, this spirit of IndianOil kept Indian citizens insulated from soaring global fuel prices, as PM @narendramodi Ji didn’t want our citizens, specially the vulnerable ones, to suffer from crises of fuel availability, affordability and sustainability.
