New York didn’t stumble into an energy crisis. Albany built one.
A decade ago, New York’s grid ran on a balanced mix of nuclear, natural gas, and renewables, and families paid about 18¢ per kWh for electricity.
Then Albany shut down Indian Point in 2020 and 2021, eliminating 2,000 megawatts of clean, reliable, around-the-clock power.
What happened next?
Natural gas jumped from 36% to 47% of the grid. Renewables barely moved. Electricity prices climbed to nearly 30¢ per kWh, about 70% higher than the 2016 low and now among the highest in America.
And the craziest part? New York sits on top of some of the most abundant, affordable natural gas in the country, yet politicians blocked the pipelines needed to bring it to consumers.
The solution isn’t complicated: finish the pipelines, keep nuclear and build more of it, complete the Champlain Hudson transmission line, unlock the jobs and mineral rights of the Southern Tier, and eliminate the hidden fees driving up utility bills.
Affordable, reliable power is a choice.
As Comptroller, I’ll be the watchdog who holds Albany accountable for the cost of that choice.
This idea was simple…

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Tens of thousands of Spencer Pratt voters are now receiving rejection letters from the county clerk saying that their ballots were not counted due to signature irregularities. Yet, Governor Gavin Newsom just passed legislation that would make it illegal for anyone conducting oversight, to contest signatures that they deemed fraudulent. Democrats allow ballots to be signed with an X, a -, or a 🙂 to pass and count, but all of a sudden, only Republican signatures are being flagged for irregularities, rejected, and not counted. 🤔 One of these California Republican voters said that his signature has been on file for over 20 years and there has never been an issue until he voted for Spencer Pratt. Nithya Ramen has beaten Spencer Pratt by less than 3000 votes. There are at least 18,000 Pratt voters who received this letter saying their votes were rejected.
Today, I’m releasing never before seen intelligence revealing new evidence of past US government funding for more than 120 biolabs in over 30 countries, including Ukraine.
In support of President Trump‘s Executive Order to end federal funding of dangerous gain of function research around the world, and increase transparency and accountability, ODNI will continue working with partners across the Administration to identify where these labs are, what pathogens they contain, and what “research” is being conducted.

🚨 WOW! Spencer Pratt just dropped this after they stole the LA mayoral election from him — he’s about to drop BOMBSHELLS he was saving for the general election!
“We have some recordings of one of your insulting candidates doing and saying something that would make her resign in shame.” 🤯
“I was saving it for the general election. Go ahead and pick your demon, certify your choice, and then you get to see it.”
“You think you can get rid of me that easily?”
“Karen, Nithya, ask yourself, is it possible that one of your employees may have a recording of you doing or saying something that would force you to resign in disgrace?”
🔥🔥🔥
“I'm going to be lighting you up every single day and now I don't have to worry about offending CNN viewers.”
“I don't have campaign laws hamstringing me now. It's WAR. It's zero hour for Los Angeles!”
🚨 JUST IN: Sec. Scott Bessent PUMMELS lying Democrat Rep. Sanchez in a FIERY moment
"This is the most corrupt Treasury Dept. in our nation's history."
BESSENT: "That is a SLANDEROUS STATEMENT!"
"She seems SHORT on facts and LONG on HOT AIR!" 🔥
"It's a DISGRACE to make a remark like that!"
"The Congresswoman is SLANDEROUS, she has nothing but unsubstantiated opinions and I will NOT stand for that. There is nothing corrupt. We move at the highest levels and she just cannot get the answers she WANTS."

New York’s primary energy source is natural gas from out of state and out of country. While there is stiff competition in the category of most idiotic policies in NY, the state’s ban on natural gas extraction may be the pace setter. Was in Binghamton this morning to talk about this abundant energy resource that is available in the ground underneath NY. Despite all the jobs, lower cost of living, increased revenue, and vibrant downtowns that would come with reversing the state’s ban, Albany politicians like Kathy Hochul and her friends just refuse to apply basic common sense and lead NY back to greatness.
I added up the decisions that helped push New York electric bills to about 70% above the national average and handed out “awards” for the worst ones. One name appeared more than any other: @KathyHochul.
Here’s the scorecard.
The two biggest belong to Andrew Cuomo: closing Indian Point, which increased reliance on fossil fuels and added hundreds of millions in costs, and blocking major gas pipelines that worsened supply bottlenecks and winter price spikes.
#3 belongs to Albany democrats: the hidden property tax that makes up roughly a quarter of a Con Ed bill and that Albany still refuses to fix.
But when it comes to costly decisions, Hochul takes the prize:
- Canceling transmission projects that would have brought cheaper power into NYC
- A failed offshore wind strategy that came back more expensive
- Retiring power plants before replacements were ready
- New gas restrictions and carbon-pricing policies without affordability protections
- Continuing a grid rebuild with no limit on what ratepayers pay
Five of the eight major decisions have her fingerprints on them. That’s not bad luck, that’s a record.
New Yorkers deserve leaders who understand affordability. We invented the modern electric grid here when Edison powered Lower Manhattan in 1882. We helped light the world. Today, we’re leading the nation in electric bills. We can do better.
Per @TheBuffaloNews Editorial:

👉What article fails to address is the insurmountable poison of our land & water supply from solar/wind turbines
You’re looking at thousands of studs that have been jammed into the ground, on what was previously prime farmland, as they continue to build out Cider Solar in Elba and Oakfield, New York.
The studs will hold the Chinese-made solar panels that were constructed and shipped with fossil fuels and rare earth minerals.
Cider Solar is a massive 500MW industrial complex that will destroy 4,000 acres by the time they’re done.
Since commercial solar only generates at 15% of its annual potential in Upstate NY (actually closer to 10% in Western NY), this 500MW complex will only generate 75MW of power when it’s all said and done.
Thousands of acres gone. Soil compacted. Runoff reported. Chemicals sprayed to suppress vegetation. Animals displaced in every direction. And the history and culture of these towns destroyed forever.
All for our governor, greedy politicians, and subsidies for foreign corporations.
