@RichStapless I don’t think Jake LaRavia is the flex that you think it is. Also, the fact that the Lakers let Smart walk shows you how inept they are. The only point you make is that Rob sucks at his job and gets all of his ideas from his players.
@GuruLakers Summer league is for rookies and fringe players fighting for a roster spot. This doesn’t apply to Bronny, regardless of LeBron’s situation. I would put Kenecht on the squad before Bronny. Bronny’s improved. Kenecht has regressed and is older.
@Ralph_MasonJr Agreed. He made $2.5M last year. Does he deserve a raise? Sure. But 5X? It’s like Rob negotiates against himself. The same thing for Quinton Grimes. He lost his starting job to a rookie and was statistically worse in 2025 than 2024. So let’s double his salary. Makes zero sense.
@LakerCentral365 In a vacuum DA’s a great backup at a good price. In reality he wanted more touches last year as a starter. I’m pessimistic in thinking he’ll fall in line. Jaxon knew his role and was happy to provide a spark when called upon. JJ is going to have to do some serious massaging.
@LakerCentral365 Only casuals say that… they let Caruso walk because of a horrible internal evaluation (THT > Caruso). That beating said, seeing Smart leave for only $6.5 is a head scratcher. I will say both were the result of mismanagement on Rob’s part.
@NBAWAY0FFS I’m not mad at the actual picks as much as I’m mad at the picks as sweeteners. No one wants to trade for Vando and now people have pivoted to him getting waived. I maintain Utah wouldn’t have matched a $35M offer bc they already have $106.1 committed to JJJ, Lauri and Nurkic.
@RatioNChill I wish we could swap them now. Statistically, DA is better, but he was complaining about touches last year… I highly doubt he’ll embrace coming off the bench. Jaxon knew his role, embraced it and got better as the year went on. He also has better hands than DA.
@jonnati77@NycVipers Stop. LeBron and Klutch brought AD to LA. Nico wanted AD. Rob just answered the phone and kept his mouth shut. I will give him credit for not including AR or Kenecht.
@NycVipers How he evaluates bigs are flawed: he also traded Zubac, on a cheap rookie deal, in 2019 for Mike Muscala and let BroLo walk in 2018, who signed with Milwaukee for the get minimum. Good thing Luka helped him identify Kessler.
@AnthonyIrwinLA I like the Kessler trade. Wishing they could’ve unloaded Vando or Ayton too so they could’ve resign Jaxon/Smart. They overpaid for Mamu who made $2.5M last year. $8M,$9M could’ve done it. Grimes lost his starting job. He didn’t deserve a raise. Hoping JJ can help him develop.
@DStarkand “Bigs can’t feed themselves” — DA
I’m sure he’ll embrace this new role. People have forgotten he can’t catch a lob to save his life and is limited vertically. Hayes was a much better fit off the bench. Ainge punked @Lakers and then steals their backup. SMH.

@Sean_Davi There’s a comical deficiency in how he evaluates his free agents that he lets walk / trades away. Too many to count after all these years. His best skill set is self preservation.
@LakerCj It’s not the swaps as much as the picks. And it’s not the actual picks, they’re always in the high 20s, as much as it’s the picks to attach as sweeteners for any Vando/Ayton/Kenecht trade. Utah wasn’t going to match despite the messaging (why sign Nurkic?). Rob blinked first.
@LADEig Super talented. Would be a great get for that price. But this is a guy that openly pouted about a complementary role in GS. If Steve Kerr couldn’t get him to buy in, what makes you think that JJ can?
@LakersNation I like the signing, but hate that Ainge fleeced the @Lakers for 2 firsts/2 swaps. Utah has $95M committed to JJJ and Markkenan already and signed Nurkic for $11M in an obvious hedge. Offer the max and dare them to match it. Pelinka blinked first.
