Yossi and I are podding in the aftermath of the devastating Jalen Williams injury.
- What does this mean for OKC? Can they replace some of what he gave them on the trade market?
- Some other opening week impressions, starting with Philly and Miami.

@bigdogpistons1@YossiGozlan A long line of teams in the running there if that happens, but OKC is above the first apron so they can't sign guys above the MLE if they get bought out.
This is worth a read. I've written several times about the reality that the all-in NBA isn't designed for stars to spend their entire careers with one team anymore. For it to work outside of anomalous situations like San Antonio's the star has to be willing to show some patience.

@ctrombetta@willmul5 ... Me saying I liked other fits better for him does not mean I was saying he was a bad fit for them? Again... it's LeBron fucking James. There is not a team in NBA history that he would not enhance. I had questions like pretty much everyone did but don't put words in my mouth.
A random thought: Tyrese Maxey is (I think?) the best shooter that has ever been the fastest player in the NBA.
Normally, with speed, we think of guys like Westbrook and Wall who were shaky shooters. We've never really had the apex speed guy also be a killer shooter.
Show me where I said that? I'm serious. It's LeBron James. He fits anywhere.
I've had age-related questions and I've had "how do they manage usage" questions, which I think most people have. But I'm pretty confident I've never said LeBron didn't fit on this team because he fits on any team.
Next week feels make-or-break for Aaron Glenn. Coming off of a home loss to the Dolphins, with the Chiefs and Bills looming, if you can't beat the Raiders you're going 2-8.
@JustinKimbrell Barbosa was the other guy I considered but it felt a little wrong to me to go outside of the star circle. He was the best I could come up with. I don't think he was a Maxey-level shooter either.
I don't know what the Pelicans are doing with Herb Jones but I vehemently disagree with it.
Hasn't played 18 minutes in a game yet. Was 10th on the team in minutes tonight. If this is what you think of him then why haven't you traded him yet?
There it is. Denver's first "played with their food for 3.5 quarters before finally eating it" win of the season. The 2026-27 has officially begun. MVP chants for Trevon Brazile.
I had a take this summer that Ty Jerome was the offense equivalent of Alex Caruso defensively. Star-level impact but could only play 20ish minutes.
He's played 31+ mins 12 times in his career... including both games this year. If he's playing 30+ nightly, he's just an All-Star.
I do not feel we are doing enough to realllllllly talk about what Ty Jerome might just be now. He put up insane numbers last year on limited minutes in the tank. He was one of the most impactful guys in the league off the bench in Cleveland.
Is this just him?
