I’m not diving into the pumpdotfun debate, but the chart makes it seem like their launch started the downtrend in Altcoin market share (relative to BTC).

BTC bottoms, runs to old highs, and prints its first leg into new highs: during this, altcoin market share drops every cycle.

Last cycle, it was also down 75% at this exact stage. It was also the stage of peak Altcoin desperation, and people were calling for 'no altseason' this cycle.

Usually, altcoin dominance only increases once BTC begins its second leg up.

Common Wealth are attending Devcon Bangkok this week

Devcon is the largest Ethereum developers conference bringing together developers, blockchain investors, enthusiasts from all over the world. This year Devcon follows on from Bangkok Blockchain Week and hotel rooms are at crazy premiums

Devcon will feature back-to-back workshops, panels and talks on topics as diverse as -
•Security
•Account abstraction
•Intent based architectures
•Wallet infrastructure
•UX
•AI

It is early days for Account abstraction but smarter wallets, batch transactions, gasless transactions, account recovery and easier onboarding are the future of web3 and essential to onboarding the masses 🚀

And while Intent based architectures currently exist more in concept than in implementation they hold some promise in stream-lining blockchain transactions so let’s watch this space as it matures. Personally speaking, I’m struggling to see how how these architectures will be more secure (at least two more middlemen in the mix…) and cheaper (…each of which takes a cut per tx) but let’s see what emerges 🤔

Great to see the growing emphasis on UX and wallets infrastructure. Kinda glad to see that despite all the overblown AI hype, there’s relatively modest AI focus at the conference this year 💪

We are also plan on attending a few region-based sessions focussing on Africa and LATAM
