@realericmoutsos@TPUSA@PastorMark@PastorMark has spent his life spewing false and hateful rhetoric about the LDS community. The past few days? That same LDS community has raised over $100K for the shooter’s wife and son. And that right there tells me all I need to know. “Ye shall know them by their fruits”.
To everyone not of my faith who has expressed their deepest sympathies about the loss of our prophet and the horrific terror attack on one of our chapels…
You are a light in the darkness, and your kindness is appreciated more than you know.
Thank you. 🙏
Anti-Mormon sentiment has always baffled me.
As an Evangelical, I’ve only ever had good interactions with them. I’ve never felt pressured or treated poorly. They’re genuinely kind, family-oriented individuals.
You actually don’t have to hate people who believe differently.
Catholic and Protestant friends: Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints are today mourning the death of their beloved leader, President Nelson. At the same time, they are in shock at a murderous assault at a church in Michigan. This is NO TIME for theological disputations! The only thing we should be saying right now is this: "We stand in loving solidarity with you, dear brothers and sisters."
After reading a few of the comments to my original post, i felt compelled to ask my Christian friends a few questions.
If, in this moment of grief, someone had said to me, as I mourn the loss of Charlie Kirk, “Yes, but everything he said was trash,” how do you think that would feel? Does that sound like the way we honor the charge to “mourn with those who mourn”?
I know very well how my faith is viewed in some quarters. I am not blind to the criticisms, nor do I expect everyone to share my beliefs. If you are not a hater but simply someone who disagrees with me on these issues, I want you to know I recognize your sincerity and that you, too, may believe you are doing right. But please — in this moment — I ask you to show me, and others who are hurting, the respect and love that Christians are commanded to extend to all.
There is a time for debate, and there is a time for silence. The time to belittle or question another’s faith is not while they are burying their dead. Doing so does not soften hearts; it hardens them. It does not heal; it deepens the wound. It does not invite reflection; it closes ears and eyes to any message you might hope to share.
I am not asking you to change your beliefs. I am not even asking you to stay silent forever. I am asking, humbly and respectfully, that you consider saving that fight for another day. We already agree on so much. The times are so dark. This is the third friend I have lost in two weeks. We are all hurting.
I love you. I respect your spiritual stance. I even applaud you for standing up for Christ in your way. But is it too much to ask, just for this moment, that you sit quietly with a friend and mourn while they mourn?
Erika Kirk delivers a powerful message to the nation:
"Two days ago, my husband went to see the face of his Savior and his God... Now, and for all eternity, he will stand at his Savior's side wearing the glorious crown of a martyr."
@NelsonRussellM By nourishing it daily. I read the scriptures, and pray with everything I have for help. My testimony in my Savior pulls me through, so I try to avoid anything that would pull me in another direction. I strive to be like him, but fail. Even that draws me closer to him though. ❤️
