@Dom_Investing One thing I have always wanted to know as a child of parents who couldn’t stay together is why they didn’t love me enough to do whatever it took to fix their issues.
@TardDunderThome@mattvanswol If this was a regular school then those teachers knew they couldn't fix him. They aren't allowed to do anything other than what that woman was doing. It is lack of admin support to get kids like this out of normal schools that drove me from teaching & made me homeschool my kids.
@techno_patriot1@TardDunderThome@mattvanswol I viewed her as still restraining him and waiting for the cops to take him. I was a teacher to kids his age with behavior problems so that’s my read. But I could see how someone else might have seen her as trying to protect him.
@educator4ever36 Yep! I had two students: A needed lots of support and services, he got nothing. B needed very little, he got the works! When I asked my admin she said B’s parents asked for it, A’s didn’t. Plus she liked B’s parents more. I knew then I would not last long as a special ed teacher.
@teachthemx3 43yrs ago I learned to read IN SCHOOL! 25 yrs before that my parents learned to read IN SCHOOL. Parents were NOT expected to teach reading. We didn’t have the issues we have now and our society was far more literate. Make it make sense. I homeschool my children to avoid the mess.
@agreatdayinnc I agree because society has changed and we are now so individualistic. Once upon a time extended family did life together. It is sad we lost that.
@alphafox If the guy in the white uniform is who I think l he is he for a black belt as a much younger man. And this group or competition is for people who persevere through mental challenges.
@JebraFaushay I mean we tax payers spend an average of $25k per year per pupil in CT. Surely a few hundred of that should go to supplies, right? No one should have to buy school supplies out of pocket. Not the parents and not the teachers.
@cushiebuttercup@MadFatTeacher@educator4ever36 Kids used to go home and play after school. Now they are in some sort of structured care before and after school. So they have no freedom of movement for almost all of their waking hours.
@Principal_Jon I have a 77yo friend who sees at least one of his grandkids, including the teens, almost every day. He picks them up from school, drops by their games, or takes them home for lunch. Etc. He enters their lives. That's how you do it well!
