August 6, 2020 at our inaugural meeting, we established the @surreyps - it was an historic day and since then, so much has happened. We look forward to continuing to build a police service that is accountable to the public through #civilianoversight
We’ve come a long way, and we’re excited to celebrate our 3rd anniversary as a police agency! To date, we’ve hired 336 sworn officers and 60 civilian employees to help build a progressive and modern police agency for Surrey that goes beyond the status quo. #SaferStrongerTogether
Chief Lipinski responds to Council’s decision to transition back to the RCMP: “It is concerning that Council has made this decision, despite the Province of BC’s clear and evidence-based recommendation that the City of Surrey continue its transition to SPS in order to ensure public safety.”

We need more police officers on the ground NOW.
Surrey needs leadership prioritizing safety. Mayor Locke is stalling on following British Columbia’s Solicitor General’s recommendation to fully transition to a local police force.

"This is the first time in my policing career, even though it's been a short-lived one here in SPS, that I've actually truly felt welcomed and needed and valued."

One of our main goals at SPS is to bring meaningful change to policing in Surrey by instituting policies and training that emphasize officer and public safety. Learn how we’re changing the status quo in our Report to the Community: https://t.co/qjo2eKNt4B
We are saddened to hear another #OPP member was killed in the line of duty today as a result of a vehicle accident. Our thoughts are with Det. Cst. Steven Tourangeau's family, friends and his @OPP_News colleagues during this tragic time. #HeroesinLife

The Province has been clear that continuing the transition to SPS is the only way to ensure public safety. Despite this recommendation, the policing debate continues with no timeline for a decision. It’s time for a clear path forward. Read our letter: https://t.co/ZZemzXoHOQ
We are proud of the services we deliver everyday. Last week, our members were able to resuscitate an elderly woman at a community event. SPU members used advanced training and medical gear until an ambulance arrived on site.
“My training as a flight and tactical paramedic assisted by our front line SPS made it possible to respond quickly and potentially save her life.” - Cst. Mallais

Today marks the beginning of #NationalPoliceWeek with a reminder that officers everywhere are #CommittedtoServe. This week, we’d like to recognize over 300 SPS officers who have taken the oath and committed to serve the citizens of Surrey, making SPS the 2nd largest municipal police agency in BC.
Minister Farnworth is clear on the path forward for public safety in #SurreyBC is Surrey Police Service. Our members are proud to continue serving this community. #bcpoli#SurreyBC
