We recently launched the SPS Cedar (Xep’ay) Award, in collaboration with Board Director, Chief Harley Chappell. This award represents a connection between Indigenous people and SPS employees who act as guardians for all. It will be presented to employees who best exemplify the spirit of the cedar: providers, guardians, and healers.

Creating a modern and progressive shift schedule is no small task. We listened to our frontline officers, and developed a schedule that creates better cohesion, more family time, and less sleep disruption. It’s one way we’re going beyond the status quo.

SPS officers routinely preform proactive foot patrols throughout Surrey. Proactive policing helps us engage with the community, and allows us to be more visible and available to offer assistance when needed.
