This moment marks the biggest change ever in my journey, and I don't know how to express the feelings I'm going through right now, but I want to try.
For all of my life, it's been surrounded by the inability to be myself, or truly find happiness. Parents who never wanted me and told me to just 'be normal' followed by constant physical, mental, and sexual abuse. People I thought who were friends who told me who I was supposed to be. Who told me to stop ever going outside their bubble of acceptance, and was disgusted of me for even thinking I was anything outside of their normality. And roommates who were intolerant and bigoted, often taking their anger out on me or constantly making my life hell even through the latest hours at night.
People have always asked me why I work so hard, why I never seem to rest in this space. At first, Vtubing was only a passion, and I never lost that desire to do this just for fun. To this day it's the best time I've ever had. But thanks to my amazing community and friends, it swiftly became a career. I saw a chance to make something of myself, to finally have a chance to maybe afford a place to call home. It was my chance to finally escape it all and maybe, just maybe for once, feel like I'm not constantly in fight-or-flight mode. Constant panic attacks became less frequent, being autistic felt less like a stigma, my cptsd was more manageable, embracing myself in gender and appearance even if it was through vtubing and even for once dressing the way I always wanted at a convention. Vtubing has given me a chance to finally live.
Not a Hell with an abusive family. Not a tiny bedroom of a prison with people who hated me. But instead, a genuine place I can finally be myself fully, just as Vtubing gave me the courage to finally start discovering who I was. And even better, to spread that encouragement and hope to others, to remind them they can do it too. That as painful as this world can be, there's always hope for those who keep fighting.
I never take for granted the friends I've made, and the support of my community. It's gotten difficult at times to reach out because of how hard I worked to make this living possible, but we're here now. I never truly spoke about the Hell I've been through to get here, how before all of this I even made an attempt because for 30 years, I thought my life was just always going to be this painful.
The community, my friends, my agency, they all made it possible. Thank you for helping me find freedom and the peace I always wanted.
All I can do is lay on the floor, stare the ceiling and cry hoping this isn't a dream.
I'm home.
I'm finally home.
