@vtchakarova this is different. Oil supply is liquid (not making a pun), diversified and broad. An easily corrected issue. In the GFC it was wired into the system and not easy. Not saying everything will be fine but it’s a mistake to conflate crisis. In this case, there’s a good chance … 2/x
@KirkLubimov If there are so many trade deals just laying around - money on the table - why hasn’t anybody done them already? Answer: because they’re not good deals. They’d be second string and only make sense in the absence of a US trade deal.
@KirkLubimov And nobody wonders, if those trade deals were just money sitting on the table, how come nobody has done it already? Answer: because they’re not good deals. Compared to US trade they’re uncompetitive. Thus, they only make sense in the complete absence of a US trade deal.
@BenWoodfinden It worked. So stop with this “US is a threat” crap - YOU guys are the threat for allowing yourself to become so weak. A weak ally is a liability. You got what you deserved, nothing has changed with the US fundamentally, other than our electoral system worked.
@BenWoodfinden In particular look at it from Trumps perspective. He came in his first term, yelled at NATO and what happened? Nothing. Putin invaded Ukraine, what happened with NATO? NOTHING! Trump rightly recognized that the only way to herd cats is to yell and scream, and you know what? 3/
@bsilly3 I heard you the first time. Give evidence or give up. Here I’ll help on retaliation, the only two countries which retaliated is Canada and China. Welcome to the Communist club
@TMTLongShort DJT isn’t that deep. His team is - Rubio and Bessent, but not him. My understanding is he and Trudeau spoke in Florida where Trump told him he’ll fix the trade imbalance. Trudeau said that would crush Canada, Trump said “so it’s basically the 51st state” and the rest is history
@sarobertson_ 😂 brilliant if you meant it ironically, but better they’re at the table and Canada is on a platter. Mexico is taken over Canada in US trade
@DMCBaxendale@SundayGuardian ‘We should’ is a null statement. Either you are or you aren’t, and while diversifying is a nice idea it’s not competitive with US trade.
