Cubs Magic Number

Counting down the Chicago Cubs' path to NL Central Division championships and beyond...

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

That's it for the #Cubs. Congratulations to the Padres.

Get to work, Jed.

See you next spring!

@SoxNerd Too soon

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@PeterDennis7 @Matt_Fortuna *1st (and I'm not shilling for ND)

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@JAYChi_Cubs Two years older than Seiya. Far more expensive. And Suzuki had a much better '26 and a comparable '25.

Re-sign Suzuki and use that $ to sign some pitching, which is the Cubs' real need.

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@arbtim @JAYChi_Cubs This ⬆️ all day.

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@SoxNerd A+ content! #IYKYK

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@312WiseGuy @ChicagoCubsHQ With $182M in the bank, I think his ability to get health insurance isn't keeping him up at night... 😉

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@JAYChi_Cubs They'll "offer" 6/200, the best parking spot in the players' lot, his choice of Happ's or Suzuki's locker, unlimited photo ops against the ivy, and his photo banner hanging right at Clark & Addison before he laughs and the FO says with a straight face that they were "in the mix"

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

Hey @MLB, you up?

[Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter]

The NFL confirmed today that line judge Jeff Seeman has been suspended for two games and referee Adrian Hill has been suspended for one game, each for an instance of unprofessional conduct toward a player in Sunday’s Arizona-New York Giants (Seeman) and Miami-Minnesota games (Hill). The suspensions were issued by NFL Vice President of Officiating Ramon George.

@BleacherNation ✌️

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@bleedcubbieblue Pay Seiya! #GoCubsGo

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@nprscottsimon The irony is incredible.

Petco Park literally has signs in its stands calling "betting-related language" "offensive fan behavior" while two huge casino resort signs adorn CF and while Draft Kings is an "Official Sports Betting Partner" of MLB.

🤦‍♂️

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@PrazMaster @drazenholliday 💯

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@TrumpCard79 @PrazMaster How about the Tigers' job?

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@tokusatsu1984 If he can go somewhere else & win, I'll be cheering for him. But the Cubs should be building around him, PCA, & Alex.

1B: Busch
2B: Nico
SS: Dansby
3B: Bregman
LF: ?
CF: PCA
RF: ?
C: ?

Filling those gaps well will be the difference between a great team and a decent one.

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

If the #Cubs are foolish enough not to re-sign Seiya Suzuki this offseason, I'm here to say thank you to the guy who's been their best hitter over the past five seasons.

Not to mention, he's hilarious!

ありがとう

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@slantyray Obviously it's PCA in '26, but collectively over the past 5, it's been Suzuki.

Big hole if they let him walk.

#GoCubsGo

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@CBGSW_4LYFE Who's been better over the past 5 years?

Nico? Happ? Nah.

#GoCubsGo

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@ThatOhioKidRyan Jed loves himself a bargain basement deal, so I'd bet on the former over the latter.

But Seiya is the better hitter, and slots better into a full-time DH role down the road, so I'd prioritize him.

But my money says the Cubs sign neither. 😕

[Cubs Magic Number @CubsMagicNumber]

@LutherWalt7 And is a great hitter:

@just_a_real1st Pretty tough to replace this level of consistency and production.
