HUMAN 1: It’s too bad no one could come up with a plan to protect us from global climate change.
HUMAN 2: Oh, they had a plan. They just couldn’t figure out how to pay for it.
8 in 10 voters are worried about election security. Paper ballots & automatic audits, which we just got in PA, are the 1st step to fixing our broken elections. Next we examine secret voting machine software in Wisconsin. #Recount2016 is getting results! https://t.co/0dT6MLKFwf
If you are a progressive, and you're fixated on raising taxes to "pay for" everything, you are embracing a fundamentally neoliberal (Thatcher-like) approach to public finance.
Remember, Thatcher was lying in order to divide us.
There *is* public money.
It exists to serve society.
(She was wrong about society too.)
#GreenNewDeal
The right way to budget for a #GreenNewDeal is the way JM Keynes approached the question in his "How to Pay for the War." i.e. national resource planning. It wasn't about where to get the money. It was about how to manage the transition to a war economy.
@WhyAsk65@SenSchumer@matthewstoller@ATT If you ignore discouraged workers and increase in so-called "gig economy", what we used to call "odd jobs", then yes, that's true. Unfortunately, ignoring those problems ignore much of what's wrong with employment situation, which has been bad for some time.
@WhyAsk65@SenSchumer@matthewstoller@ATT US Bureau of Labor Statistics U-6 unemployment, plus "discouraged workers", which is U-5 minus U-4. https://t.co/fvWw41mfuJ
@WhyAsk65@SenSchumer@matthewstoller@ATT Next time you see a report on our economy that seems confused by the fact that, even with such "low unemployment",rises aren't rising, you can count this disparity as one of the reasons for confusion.
@WhyAsk65@SenSchumer@matthewstoller@ATT Don't confuse the new unemployment with the old.People who give up looking for work aren't considered unemployed now.Ppl who can't find regular jobs, but can make do with odd jobs, are considered employed.Real unemployment is much higher, somewhere near 9.5% by my estimate.
Obama was a terrible President in almost every way. He oversaw a continued decline in Americans well being and the collapse of the Democratic party.
He played a good TV President, however, and most liberal Americans think that has something to do with reality

This thread is good advice for anyone discussing things of a complex or technical nature.Give credit/blame for conclusions where it's due,and make sure your facts are facts. It's OK to have your own opinions, just make sure you're honest about it. https://t.co/ITQTGzVUCO
I welcome attention to ICS security issues and I applaud folks getting involved. However at the risk of sounding rude I will say that stating things as facts when you’ve not done the research is simply misinformation and can be damaging.
Seems a safe bet that not a single well-placed Democrat considers the plausible #BernieWouldHaveWon concept a reason to run meaningfully to the left in 2020.
