When I was a kid, my grandma was a huge Jay Jay Okocha fan.
I grew up with Okocha’s portrait in our living room. I knew his name before I could read. And at that time, he was playing for Hull City.
Because of Jay Jay, my grandma became a full time Hull City fan. Which automatically made me one too.
She loved Hull City so much she celebrated my 2nd birthday with a Hull City jersey on me 😂
Hull City weren’t even in the Premier League then. But my grandma told me one thing:‘One day, Hull City will come to the Premier League and compete with the big teams. Remember that.’
I didn’t think much about it then.
Until I saw the Premier League fixtures this season.
Hull City vs Manchester United. Matchday 1.
Grandma’s words hit me like a truck.
She’s not here to see it. But I am.
This one is for her. For Okocha. For the jersey I wore at age 2.
Come on Hull City 🐯❤️
City till I die, City till I die, I know I am, I’m sure I am, City till I die! 🎶
We start our own 2026/2027 season today..
