@KimFoecke Great work! It's crazy how much time and careful rigorous, thoughtful work has to be spent in response to a somewhat ... say, careless? attribution of complex behavior.

@Mirayhp I did this. I side stepped the issue by getting them to design a 'culture', and students were free to bring in religion by their own choice.
I gave them three social contexts to choose from, and 6 core questions they had to address (cooperation, defection, transmission, etc).
Our research is based off a large cross-cultural, historical, and archaeological study on the occurrence of cultural finger amputation practices over thousands years of human history (including today!)
Do animals grieve? Do you want to explore this important question in an ethical and sensitive way? Apply for our PhD in Comparative Thanatology! Deadline 19th Jan. DM me for details.

Our new paper in @Nature evaluates the accuracy of social and behavioral policy recommendations during COVID19 (from https://t.co/HFM21yHc9H)
We reviewed 747 papers (mean N = 16,848) and found evidence for 89% of our central claims: https://t.co/HFM21yHc9H
The strongest evidence supported claims that anticipated culture, polarization and misinformation would be associated with policy effectiveness.
Our claims suggesting trusted leaders and positive social norms increased adherence to behavioural interventions also had strong empirical support, as did appealing to social consensus or bipartisan agreement.
We also present a novel approach to analyzing policy evidence that could be useful for future pandemics, public health crises, climate change, etc.
This paper was an absolute beast, led by the tireless @kairuggeri and we had two teams of experts review all the evidence independent of one another to provide a rigorous evaluation of the claims.
I was co-last author with @RobbWiller (we determined last author order with a NBA Playoff pool, which he won handily).

🚨 We are hiring a post-doctoral research associate!🚨

My first big paper serving as part of my dissertation is out, on how factors which facilitate innovation on a population-level tend to be the very same ones which generate inequality.
